Your comparison is a bit all over the place... The GTI[Autobahn] is over 35K equipped with the same features as the Sport Touring. Ignoring the difference in displacement and efficiency with both... The running costs are exorbitantly more expensive than a Honda. Hell my friend is now getting his 2019 GTI bought back

While I think it’s cool; is it really a better commuter than a GTI or even an Accord Sport w/ 2.0T & 6 speed that both cost about the same? Both the GTI and Accord seem to offer a lot better value I would think. $28K seems like a lot to me for a 180hp Civic.

Uhm. Isn’t the Type R the top trim now? And it comes only with a stick?

The Si is the next trim down and it also comes only with a stick if i’m not mistaken.

so you’re saying we ecu flash our way into a nicer Si Hatchback?

That commercial has been waiting patiently for 27 years, sitting on the bench, knowing someday its moment would come. Today, that moment arrived.

lol, I remember that one.  Unfortunately if someone tried that here in Texas, there would be gunfire and blood in the back seat.  Sad times.

And the kind of people who can’t be bothered to sell their own car probably can’t be bothered to maintain it either.

I’m surprised it doesn’t look more like this:

Same, Mk8 is the ugliest they’ve done since the Mk5 imo, which is a shame because the Mk7 is very good looking (coming from a mk7 R owner).

Re-badge as an Acura Legend and see if anyone notices.

What if...you were wrong and just didn't know?

The myth of Alfa reliability issues is just that, a myth. Plenty of BMW, VWs, Mercedes, etc. are worse—but once a narrative takes hold, bloggers and commenters stick with it. So while I agree that the Guilia is your best choice, I’ll go with the Lexus RC.

The answer, as always, is GTI...or in this case, Golf R. Here’s one in Springfield, about 10 miles away, for 35k.

We just got ours in!

and a few quarter miles later, it’ll go from “break in” to “broken”.

Wait until the fall. I bought my 2018 GTI in September of last year and got $4000 off MSRP with 0.9% financing from VW financial.

I think I saw something about it somewhere.

You will probably get the $10K back in resale.

I was a huge Honda/Acura fanboy in the 90s and 00s but I’ve been meh about them for about 10 years now. Especially Acura. Honda has been on fire with the new Civic (in spite of its styling), Accord and CR-V but none of that goodness has made it over to Acura, yet.
