WANT the car, but not at that price, so a sad-trombone CP for this one.

Go for it! We bought a 2000 TT Quattro Roadster with a manual 3 years ago. Surprisingly, it’s been very reliable. We bought it for $5500 with 100k miles on it and with an accident history in its early life. No maintenance records and we are the 7th owners. Quick, fun, comfortable and so far, cheap to run. Definitely

Golf isn’t mad, Golf is disappointed

To your first point, I think that kind of wear has more to do with age in years than age in mileage. (Not entirely, but largely.)

I think it’s the type of thing we’ll look at in 5 years and it won’t look that good anymore - it will look like an over-styled caricature. The fact that you notice all of these separate styling elements individually, instead of a seeing one cohesive design, is a problem. These distractions work for “new” vehicles

What’s the ‘butterface’ equivalent for the rear of a vehicle?

I thought the guy in the pink car at the bottom was flippin’ the bird, but upon further inspection, it’s the steering wheel. Still gave me a good chuckle.

While that would be an interesting experiment, I run upwards of 40-50 deals a month and regularly put in 60+ hr work weeks. The CarMax sales gig is probably not in the cards.

Are there no pictures in this article other than the header, or is my browser freaking out?

I thought the wagon was 4cyl and auto only.

bet many on here complaining about people’s financial irresponsibility got a good bit of help from their parents and a good bit of luck. and those that get the most defensive are the ones who's parents helped them with down payments or the nice middle class lifestyles that they high horse from.

So you had to live barebones simply to buy a low $20k car, but you don’t think that’s indicative of a greater problem in this country?

...the number of cars sitting, unsold, on dealer lots.

The new RAV-4 hybrid is particularly interesting.

When we were looking hard at an Acura TLX, there was a suggested dealer that was outside of our state. I went to their website and they showed, no joke, 480 TLX in stock. Even if only 1/4 of them were physically in stock, that is 120 TLX alone. That is crazy.

So you have a 5 mile commute and you need to recharge every night in the winter...?

I hope you can get it in orange with black or silver GLI badges. 228HP is a huge step up from the 147 in the standard Jetta; Add in the digital instrument cluster and I like where this is going.

It’s pretty damn fucking fun. Imagine a car the size of a BRZ, then imagine it with AWD, double the horsepower, and triple the torque (after bolt-ons). On what planet could that not be a hoot?

Some people pay >$50K for a pickup truck.
