A good FWD car that will rotate is good fun too. I’d still rather have a RWD car for fun given the choice, but not all FWD cars are buzz kill.
As someone who’s got many years of FWD autoX under the belt, this has also been my observation from occasionally pushing the car within the confines of the street. The stability control helps with the illusion of decent turn in, but push it further and the car plows hard. This car just will not plant the nose and…
I really think 2020 we will see what this car was supposed to look like, in the eyes of the designer. You can see the effort in the side profile, the part of the car that they can’t easily change, but they pasted a boring nose on it to make it look more “normal” for 2017-2019. Just imagine a more interesting nose that…
For new cars I don’t like the painted and machined look they’re doing on wheels, usually painted black and machined bright aluminum. Black wheels with the correct level of sheen on the finish, great. But painted black and machined just look cheap to me somehow.
Agreed. Chevrolet is not a brand that brings me thoughts of build quality or innovation, or long term reliability, or thoughtful engineering... but nonetheless I am driving a car with a bowtie on the front because the Bolt EV is a standout in the market. And aside from a couple flubs (what was GM thinking with the…
Yeah except that those range ratings have got to be NEDC . No way a proper crossover is going 290 miles on 40kWh
My neighbor has one in ‘90s teal.... It exists.... That is all...
I was thinking the same thing....
I had an 03' ZX3 that I graced with SVT brakes and suspension, better wheels and high perf summer tires. Can confirm that is a great chassis. Fun on the streets, fun on the AutoX track.
All this handling of flammable liquids sounds dangerous.... I can run my cell phone phone, get in and out of the car, smoke (if I was into paying money to smell bad in inconvenient places), and even walk away while re “fueling” my Bolt EV...
Your entitled to your (incorrect) opinion, but Bolt is a top safety pick. Highest marks in all crash tests.
Don’t think so. Bolt is a top safety pick with much shorter nose.
Gotta argue here. How often do you drive a small family car more than 350 miles in one sitting? For me it’s maybe once or twice a year. 200 miles driving, 1hr stop for pee break, lunch, leg stretch, and 50kW DC fast charge then another 180 miles driving. I don’t see anything wrong with that road trip. No…
unless the operator of this vehicle is pumping the cabin heating or doing all their driving in thick mud I can say that the charge should make for a good day crawling along at low speed. What kills range is pushing wind at highway speed, but if you’re just rock crawling or moving slowly along dirt roads 200+ miles = a…
That pass-through channel out the front, through the cabin and presumably out the rear its genius! Good job thinking about what you can do without an ICE in the nose of the vehicle!
Also that it is effectively in 1st gear all the way up to highway speed so acceleration is linear until the motor reaches a certain point in its RPM range (much higher than an ICE engine)
Wow, even with only 50% SOC the Bolt still creamed the GTI! Unlike an ICE car that’s quickest with an empty tank an EV is quickest with a full charge, particularly at the top end.
Killer idea, I’ve got 3 blanks in my Bolt EV that would greatly benefit from some clever obscure graphic references!
I have to disagree, I think the UI for the Bolt is great. Modern and fresh. Intuitive for the most part. It makes the interface on the Volt look 5yrs old.
