The US market Captiva is different then the one in this video. The US market was indeed a rebadged Saturn (which was a rebadged Opel) built by Opel. The Captiva is this video is the non-US version which was kind of a mutt and while it shares Theta platform underpinnings with the Opel it was designed and built by

I’m just taking issue with someone pointing to HIPAA as the reason it can’t be disclosed. Not even close. I don’t doubt that there could be some other CA specific law on the books. I don’t even really care about Tiger or this event. I just hate to see outright falsehoods slung around.

HIPAA doesn’t apply to investigations by law enforcement. They aren’t a covered entity.

I’m not sure what specific orgs your talking about... but most decent organizations I know of don’t tie their donation to the sale of their product and then use it as a marketing tool.

This is sadly true.

Cynicism is one of my better qualities

That was my original observation. They are helping the “needy” by giving them something that doesn’t help fill any of their basic needs. Really using people’s low socio-economic status to drive sales through a marketing campaign.

Unload some undesirable trade-ins, take deduction at above market prices, get good press.

I’ve seen ads like that. They have high end wheels. They price them separate from the car. Sometimes they have steelies that come with the car, sometimes you gotta figure it out yourself.

I liked some cars from Saturn. This was not one of them.

By now everyone should know FSD isn’t going to happen before these cars are obsolete.

I think the plastic has something to do with this. My guess is is suits a dual purpose. lift and weather protection. Something a floor jack can’t do.

I used to throw rocks at nests when I was a kid. I guess I never learned.

Actually, observing someone’s natural behavior leads to a more accurate diagnoses. Observation in a clinical setting and “meeting” a person aren’t quite as good... but in most cases it’s all we have. Also, you can’t bill for it unless you see the patient.

The same people that pose a danger to others when backing out of a spot are going to have serious issues backing into a spot.

counterpoint. My FIL is an enthusiast, has bought and sold probably 20 cars since I’ve known him. Most of them 2 seat RWD cars, a few muscle. Made money on every one.

Yes, agreed, 2 in a year can maybe be explained, 3 is a trend that points to an underlying issue. Probably that the business isn’t listening to their advice and they don’t want to link their career to a company taking exceptionally risky positions.

I don’t hate this.

That’s why I want simple and only for go fast. Just need the motor, a button, and a small set of batteries (or capacitor I suppose). Any more complicated and it’s just dead weight. As long as unsprung weight could be kept to a minimum an extra 100 lbs for the motors and batteries wouldn’t be too bad. Also, bolt on and

That would be a good way to not have to spin the rotor and all that extra weight when the motor isn’t being used. What you described could essentially decouple the motor when not needed. I can’t wait till EVs start turning up at the local scrap yard... then I can pull a motor and get to work.
