Dude. This controller is not a 'gimmick'. It's meant to give you a bridge in the living room, to the mouse and keyboard. No, you can't play DOTA as precisely as you can with M/KB, but Civ games and other PC games can be played on your couch.

You can duel boot your Steam Machine, or simply install Windows. I'm with you though, I build my own and game on a Windows machine.

I bought the digital version of the original Crash Bandicoot for my PS3. When you start the game, it plays the PS1 boot up sound. It always brings back great memories!!!

Don't forget. A powerful PC can do a hell of a lot more than just play games.

From the way Assassin's Creed Unity runs on the PS4 and Xbox one, also bugs, clipping..etc, I think Ubi is bad for consoles and PC.

I have a hard time believing you have a 'custom rig' and don't realize you can hook up your high-end 'custom rig' via HDMI to your TV (like I do) and play local co-op with four wireless Xbox controllers.
