It’s very similar. She mostly recounts the events of season 1 more or less, frequently using the same words. What’s interesting is her playing all the other characters, particularly before they had been cast. Worth a watch

I know fuck all about the guy either way, but does he have the clout to be the reason that project keeps falling apart? He doesn’t seem like a big enough name to be worth much trouble. Given how briefly he’s in the other DCU films, if he was the reason a billion dollar grosser isn't getting made, , I presume they’d

“failure of the marketing team”

He has cleverly ensured no one will focus on his flaws by surrounded himself with the fairly obnoxious modern John Cleese and the incredibly obnoxious any era Chevvy Chase

Hundreds of young film students, one of them must have used laptop screen recording software, right?

Is it not that suburbia represents a culturally agreed upon norm for a family, one that’s frequently idealised? So there’s a lot of dramatic and thematic potential in subverting it. They aren’t saying “fuck you for living in suburbia” they’re saying that the aesthetics of idealised normality (nice house, front lawn

“just STFU and stop replying to me.”

I know, what hope have they? But I dream that they’ll somehow end up well adjusted enough to spend their time on a pop culture website being needlessly aggressive to anyone with a slightly different opinion.

Sorry, I have reproduced. Twice.

So everyone who enjoys watching TV with loved ones is a terrible person?

1. Are there no TV shows or movies that you put on as a social experience, with friends or family occasionally talking?

Just cancel the fucking thing. People’s lives are at stake. Some wanky art films can wait a year. And I say this as someone who has a (very, very out of competition) project screening during the festival.

I liked DMZ but it’s the world and themes, not the characters that are the interesting part. Shifting the protagonist away from generic straight white dude makes sense, especially with DuVarnay in the driving seat. I’ve high hopes for this. If it’s anywhere near as good as How They See Us and taps into the potential

A straightt adaptation of Hickmans run would be impossible, but the bare bones of mutants building their own society would be adaptable. It’d probably need to be the third Disney Marvel movie, once they’ve set them up. Or get someone like Lindleoff to do the Disney+ version with a laod of second stringers once they’ve

I love how Quitely has influenced a whole generation of artists. I'll take the likes of Chris Burnham over another Jim Lee/David Finch wannabe.

I dont know Mostert but that art is lovely. The composition and storytelling is miles ahead of DCs typically bland house style.

Characterising the #MeToo movement as a performative rebellion centered on the younger generations puritanical attitude to sex is an... interesting take.

Unfortunately anthologies are much more expensive to produce. Rotating casts cost a lot more than contracted ones, not being able to reuse sets and costumes gets expensive and then there’s just a lot more labour and cost in assembling new locations, props wardrobes, etc every week.

What’s scary is that it brings back Americas dark history of brutal mob justice. I don’t want to return to the the terrifying days of rabid, torch wielding villagers taking book deals away from award winning millionaires.

Why is it for the best that Boyle isn’t doing it? He’s one of the best living directors and has nailed everything from sleazy crime thriller and genre redefining horror to epic Sci fi and talky Oscary biopic.
