“Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you Captain America: The First Avenger sucks, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, ‘No, *you* suck.’”
Wow, how did I forget all those teams but remember Power Pack?
Huh, I never heard that but it might be true. Marvel didn’t have that many hero teams at the time, but Storm led the X-Men for many years, and the Wasp and Monica Rambeau (Captain Marvel/Photon) led the Avengers for much of the ‘80s.
Free Endgame tickets! Did I tell you about little Paul’s favorite ice cream? Maybe you could buy me some . . .
Maybe Hollywood 50, but not regular guy 50. I turned 50 this week, and I could pass for his dad.
I was a twelve-year-old Marvel nut when Starfox joined the Avengers, and even I said, “The fuck is this bullshit?”
Exactly. I feel the same way about TV and movie depictions of serial killing. All we ever see are melodramatic maniacs so desperate for attention that they’re just begging to be caught.
And Valkyrie! It’s team-up time!
I think the point is that no child of a wealthy celebrity can really be certain that they got into a selective college solely on their own merit. It doesn’t mean they didn’t; it just means that it’s hard to show that the school wasn’t aware of who their parents were and how much money they had. And we know parental…
Yeah, it goes off the rails during season 3, but it’s great until then. Seems like they never figured out where to take things after they left New Caprica.
“There are 12 models. And they have a plan.”
He certainly had the great fortune of being president during the Internet boom. Almost anyone would look like a great president with that wind in his sails.
And again, where in there does it say he was charged? I get that he probably broke the law, but that is not the same as getting charged with a crime. The headline specifically lists people who were “charged” with a crime, and it seems that he might not have been (probably, as other commenters suggested, because the…
Where are you getting the info that their husbands were charged? I’m not saying that’s not true, but I’ve read 3 news stories on this, and none of them said that. I think Macy is a big enough star that his name would be first if he had been charged. (His agent insists on top billing.)
That implication in the headline is not a bug, it’s a feature. That’s what the AV Club does now.
That’s a good summary. One of the cooler aspects of this is that Rogue joins the X-Men is not only because she felt remorse over stealing Carol’s memories, but because part of her (the Carol part) now thought of the X-Men as her friends. And of course, they thought of her as the villain who hurt their friend. (There’s…
I feel like I have a good chance at dating her, given that I am a 25-year-old powerlifter.
I absolutely agree on the beauty of the show: the ship is fantastic, and I think the interior sets still look great today. And the opening credit sequence is my favorite of the Star Trek shows. We rewatched it on Netflix, where they let you skip the opening credits, but we never did. I wanted to hear that theme, and…
I watched Voyager from the start, and it had its ups and downs, but like you, I liked it much more than Deep Space Nine. That’s never been the consensus at the AV Club (DS9 gets the most love), but my ranking has always been TNG, Voyager, and DS9. My wife and I rewatched all 3 recently, and only Voyager went up in my…
