“She Left You and Got a Restraining Order, Now What?”
“She Left You and Got a Restraining Order, Now What?”
Ha, I just went to his Twitter page, saw his previous work and background photos and was like “Yep, as expected. You’re a sociopath.”
My favorite part is that someone looked up his past writing and found just article after article about “How To Win Back Your Ex” “What To Do If Your Ex Won’t Talk To You” “She Left You and Got a Restraining Order, Now What?”
Do we still insist on this? I don’t think I’ve ever waited on a dude to make the first move. If I had I may not have ever had a sex life.
See also: I am reading a book because I want to read this book, not because I am killing time until a man comes to talk to me.
If I have headphones in and am looking at my smartphone with intense focus, I am probably catching Pokemon to a raging death metal soundtrack. Unless you want to get my attention to alert me that I am about to walk into a gator-infested lake, trip over a wild baby, or miss the chance to catch a rare Pokemon, you and…
Yes! Totally. So I just read the article, and I was about to give the author a tiny bit of credit for acknowledging that some (ahem—many... most?) women wear headphones specifically to avoid talking to people, but then I got to this part:
Right? I’m wearing headphones SO I DON’T HAVE TO TALK TO PEOPLE.
I fucking hate that original article so much. IF I HAVE HEADPHONES IN DO NOT TALK TO ME. It’s aggravating enough walking down the street in New York City and being a woman; headphones are basically my only recourse to drowning out weirdos and catcalls. Related: why, in 2016, do we still insist that men have to make…
That’s the only consolation I have.
Already lost his admission to an Ivy League school. I think he will on the sex offender registry.
I wish. If he’s rich enough and well-connected enough, he’ll still get everything he wants in life and his conviction will be chalked up to “youthful indiscretion”.
Whenever he goes for a job or college interview, and someone googles his name, “Sexual assault of 15 year old” will come up. He will not be going to Harvard. He will not be getting the job of his dreams.
I had the exact same thought when the photo loaded.
There’s a whole subset of humans that don’t consider women fully human. Just so many holes. Same as it ever was. sigh
She is infinitely braver than I could ever hope to be. I wish her all the best and hope she wins her case.
Apparently the $100K+ defense Labrie got that tore this child apart on the stand and got her rapist off with barely a slap on the wrist? In large part funded by alumni and donors to the school.
God, she looks like a baby. as the parent of a young child, it’s just incomprehensible to me how anybody can act so senselessly violent to them.
On a completely different note (because I am crap at dealing with trauma), those dragonfly earrings are awesome.
She is so fucking badass and we should all celebrate her. I went to an asshole prep school and knew douchebags from douchebag families exactly like this piece of shit.
