No they could not, because at the heart of most conservative’s belief system is a total disregard for women’s rights and a firm belief that the woman was probably asking for it anyway.

thanks! i do try and limit myself to who i talk to about it, because it’s such a huge part of my life right now ive noticed it can take over all my convos, which is fucking annoying to other people. but everyone in my life is very supportive
my eating isnt super restricted. i basically stopped eating out (i was eating out 2x a day!!!) and eat more veggies and just less shit. i hope i can keep up with this forever. i’m a drug addict in recovery and learned ‘one day at a time’ years ago and i try to keep that approach with weight loss! cant think about the…
I bought a Refresher last week and asked for half ice and they said they weren’t allowed. They said that they could give less ice but they couldn’t fill my cup up with any more of the beverage. LOL.
No, it does not. Anytime I order a drink - soda or not - I ask for NO ice. 3 out of 4 times I get the glass filled with cubes.
I used to think I hated these elaborate promposals, but then I realized I just hate teens.
The Biggest Loser is such an awful show. Regardless of the implications for the science of weight loss, these results show that it’s not a good idea to strain your body like this, and the fact that people are profiting off of these folks’ pain is gross.
BL is such crap. No reputable weight loss program would advocate for a more than a 2 lb loss per week after the first couple weeks. Bodies need time adjust.
That is so awesome. I have always fantasized about buying an old house with secret compartments or passageways. Our house has one spot under the stairs that would be perfect for it, and I have thought about building a little nook and just leaving a note and a favorite book or two for someone in the future.
It was a great idea until they decided to absorb the Tea Party and shoot for racist and crazy vote instead of the let’s stop rehashing the same debates from a hundred years ago and move forward vote. So close and yet so far, GOP.
The fact that it was called “The Growth and Opportunity Project” seems hilariously ironic in hindsight. Yet they still seem utterly baffled why they have trouble reaching out to basically anyone who isn’t insane & hateful enough to vote in the republican primary.
Ah, yes. The famously ignored 2012 election post mortem report detailing all go the things that the GOP got wrong and what they needed to fix. Apparently, it did not include “improve reading comprehension among GOP,” and “Stop alienating literally everyone just to get a vote,” as the top points.
Man... Republicans really don’t get that when all you do is slam, and judge, and demonize entire groups of people said groups are gonna have a hard time believing you care about them. In 2012 all I remember hearing from republicans was that they were gonna do outreach and become new modern candidates. That plan didn’t…
do you think he also gave her some warm, fatherly advice about prom and told her not to go to any parties with alcohol (because that’s how you get sexually assaulted)?
Known in legal circles as the “Catholic child-diddlers’ defense.”
As someone who has followed the Cult of $cientology for a long time, I find none of this in the least surprising or unbelievable. A woman I met on the train years ago told me that as she was escaping, officials at the Sea Org claimed that she owed them $217,000, even though she had worked for the cult 80 hours a week…
She swallowed bleach to get away, I would say that was less "convince" leaders you are suicidal, and more "willing to risk dying to get away" How is there nothing the police/FBI/whoever deals with cults can do?
THIS. ALL OF THIS. Hell, women are EXPLICITLY told to start prefacing their points with this kind of bullshit language, so as to not hurt the delicate feelings of men with their tyrannical female “aggressiveness” by being direct, like a man would. There are tons of examples in the comments. Direct = adult people that…
“It’s a way of deflecting, avoiding full engagement with another person or group,” historian Elizabeth Lasch-Quinn tells Worthen, “because it puts a shield up immediately. You cannot disagree.”
Using “I feel” is actually the opposite of shutting conversation down. It’s meant to express the speaker is sharing an opinion that not everyone might share or they don’t feel comfortable expressing their thoughts for whatever reason. It is also meant to make the speaker non threaten to whoever they are talking to.
