My only issue is Verducci saying that Johnson let the ball drop cause he knew he could turn two. He let the ball drop so he could get the lead runner at 2nd because he was forced to stay by first. The second out was just a gift from De Aza.

The numbers next to the players seem to be the number of homers they hit in that specific round. Each player who is shown more than once has a different # for each round, with the higher number advancing.
Jeff Van Gundy and George “The Animal” Steele look like shit.
RIP T.O.
I don’t recall the first time I beat Tyson (and there weren’t many times I did), but around 7 or 8 years ago, some friends pulled out the old video game systems and I took a seat and eventually got into the groove and took him down, and that was my most vivid memory.
Recently the NES made another appearance and I was…
Deadspin buck? I'll give you a billion Stanley Nickels if you never talk to me again.
He isn't really that far off. I mean, according to Detroit, he was a very decorated athlete.
I went to Central Michigan, and well, I won't be seeing it in person either.
My 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks were Giovani Bernard, Zac Stacy, and Pierre Garcon. So I don't give a shit about the last 4 weeks of football.
Had just returned to my dorm room at Central Michigan with some terrible Burger King chicken strips. Flipped the game on almost at the exact moment the foul occurred. Watched in awe with my roommates. The MA next door spent the rest of the night trying to procure tickets on eBay for the next matchup between the two…
I didn't know he also represented Najeh Davenport.
I think the thought process is that you may have a better shot with a misplay or a throw that is offline, considering the alternative is having a free swinger up against Bumgarner. Hell, something as weird as Posey illegally blocking the plate could have occurred. But it's easy to say all of that in hindsight. Perez…
It's a damn shame that hotel elevator wasn't in Wichita. Peter would have been all over it.
Unfortunately, the video became available shortly before any confirmation of death. Once I watched it, it was hard to think that any outcome other than death was likely...
Being an overly competitive parent can have a different effect as well. When I was younger, and I would start to beat my father in activities (NHL 94 being the first I can remember), he would get so bent out of shape and upset that I won. It got to the point where I would either let him win, or not even play with him…
The first hockey question can't be answered because you don't have all the information. Granted, I'm sure the "right" answer is just 253/82, but that isn't how GAA is figured. Goals against average is based on goals allowed per 60 minutes, like ERA is calculated per 9 innings. You'd need to know how many overtime…
Do you think it's a general apathy towards athletics at EMU? I went to CMU in the late 2000s, but I'm from Romulus (about 15 miles away) and EMU always came across as if it didn't care at all about sports. I remember going to a couple of football games at Rynearson and I would be surprised if the number of people…
I didn't see this mentioned in the story, but the Red Wings skimped out on cable TV rights, rent, and property taxes for the last 30+ years as well.
At this point I would argue that Dan Gilbert is doing more good for the city than the Ilitches are.
DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS, RICHIE? DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS?
