Seriously, try the Eden Moore series - it is labeled as Southern Gothic and that fits. The last one just knocked me sideways.

Sorry, didn’t mean a thread with the intent to hijack - more like a post or forum?

Thank you! I had totally forgotten how much I loved the Hooters. I am going to go dig into my giant-box-o-cassettes and find one of theirs to play in my off-brand Walkman, once I find batteries for my off-brand Walkman. Maybe I’ll just go to YouTube (just went there - most of the first page of searches is Hooters

LOVE LOVE LOVE this list! Gonna be on play for DAYS.

I was working on that, but I checked fivethirtyeight ONCE and now I am in a cycle of dependence and worried freakouts about Hillary’s safety and the accuracy of Rasmussen polling data that is going to be interrupted only by Halloween party cocktails.

Everytime I hear this filters-turned-off-brain-surrendered bullshit I think I have heard the most stupid version of it...nope, always something else rolling up.

I love this and if the proposed Burnett, Waggoner, Conway, Lawrence sketch were done with her in full Norma Desmond costume, I would never watch anything else.

I would watch this sketch every day on waking and going to bed. I would memorize every word and every gesture and ask that it be played in lieu of a eulogy at my funeral.

In high school, my sister had her car bologna-ed (theater hazing). That seems more appropriate - he is full of bologna. BTW, that stuff leaves nasty greasy circles that require hand washing (if anyone IS outside a Trumpy rally...)

I hope that is the case, but those “Crusader” terrorists in Kansas had a plan and the materiel to kill a lot of men, women, and children. It only broke up because the girlfriend of one of the maniacs was willing to turn to the FBI.

Rotting from the inside out - by November 8, total crypt-keeper.

My favorite is the audiobook performance for Series of Unfortunate Events - he makes the stories creepier than in the books and does it right into your ear.

I haven’t gotten to Rutherford, yet, but you just moved it up the list. One of the cool things related to Shorto’s book is that you can go to the New Netherlands Institute (Shorto is affiliated) website for online exhibits, educational materials, and digitized primary sources.

I agree, many of us are going to have that feeling again in January (and are living with it right now) - the way the right has ginned up personal hatred of Hillary for the past 30 years, combined with the rhetoric of this campaign, seems toxic in a way that could generate tragedy.

Yes! This period is so deliciously and horribly complicated in part because folks had really no idea how to put their religious/social ideas into practical action without pissing each other off. I think that people who get all teary-eyed about “the Pilgrims” and picture black hats and shoe buckles are really missing

Go, Joe, go!

Her special GIF team is rigging the election! When she got the questions in advance, they mapped all of her micro-expressions!

Thank you for this post. One of the reasons I read Jezebel is because, amongst the snark and pop culture stuff (which I quite enjoy!) there are stories about things that matter in women’s lives, sometimes written with humor - which is the only thing getting me through until November 8 - and sometimes with real weight.

I love Shade Court, but sometimes I love the Grove even more (especially because I now live several thousand miles away and only get to go two or three times a year when I visit family).

That is definitely NOT on the Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness and I am certain he would have some strong feelings about it. I know “discipline” and “physical fitness” are blocks in the pyramid, but that crawling is not very Swanson.
