Given today’s news, I wanted to voice my appreciation for this post that is decidedly not about sports.

Just the sheer law of probability dictated that, someday, there would be a Billy Haisley piece that I agreed with wholeheartedly. I didn’t expect that it would be today, but here we are.

Neither Sterling, Jesus, or Dendoncker reacted to the goals with the sheepishness of someone who knows they’d gotten away with something. Neither West Ham’s or Leicester’s defenders turned to remonstrate with the referees for failing to flag the offside/handball.

I don’t mind the VAR, but I still believe it needs to be limited to what the human eye can see.  Get rid of the lines.  Have the referee watch it in real-time and in slo-mo as much as he needs, and if he can’t make the distinction between it being offside or not - let the goal stand.
