This is what I don’t get about the Cardinal defenders.

Repeat after me:

At least one Cardinal fan is willing to admit this comment is a clear condemnation of Heyward.

Stop the presses! A Cardinal fan thinks the horseshit coming out of Wainwright’s mouth is reasonable!

This is the sports interview version of “I’m not a racist, but...”

He’s saying: Heyward’s a great guy, but...(and this is the only part that matters in these comments) he’s afraid of being a cornerstone, so he went somewhere he didn’t need to be one.

And you’re hearing what you hear because you want to hear that.

It’s tiresome that comments like Matheny’s and Wainwright’s continue to be defended by people who will turn around and cry the loudest about “unwritten rules”. (Not you specifically - but Cardinal defenders in general.)
