Are you seeing a lot of enthusiasm for the Chevy? Btw, I would bet 90% of the people who put deposits on the 3 know it's not coming for 2 years at least. They have no intent of cross shopping the Bolt.

The market cap is $30 billion. They've convinced the bankers.

Do you think with 250k orders (and growing) in hand, they can’t raise more cash?

So if Tesla doesn’t get many orders, that’s a problem. And when they do get many orders, that’s a problem too.

With interest rates near zero, its not like $1k has huge opportunity costs. What people have bought is an option to buy the car at a later date. And if they’ve got in soon enough they might even be able to flip it at a profit. What is the downside exactly?

Lots of people present at those. They practice for days and work the scripts like crazy.

Not always so choppy, but he’s not a smooth presenter. More nervous than usual. Its such a contrast to Apple’s presentations which are so polished.

Escrow service plus contract?

I’m sure the Jalop community would love to hear how the sale should have been handled. Bill of sale with specified parts? At minimum an email with the seller confirming the parts would be included?

Singapore is small but its wealthy. There are many rich mainland Chinese who own homes there. Its a little market but a potentially good one for Tesla.

Its normal for a CEO to lobby a politician. I mean, good for Elon and Tesla, its the appropriate thing to do and completely ordinary.

I didn’t say anything disparaging about the 911. What I’m saying is that this model, the 911R is probably a fine machine but it’s not meant for consumption. These rare unobtanium cars may or may not be wonderful to drive but that’s beside the point. They are a business arrangement between Porsche and a few hundred

The point was that a regular 911 buyer even with $180k isn’t getting the R. You had best be a 918 owner or multiple Porsche owner before you get a crack at the R.

Daughter is a Trevian. I am a Giant. Funny story. I went to a repair shop in Winnetka. They were doing work on a Land Rover. Two sixteen year old girls hit each other. Both in Land Rovers.

Yep. So true. I saw an old FJ in the New Trier parking lot.

It’s a confidence thing too. A lot of people feel they command the road better if they’re higher. There’s a percecption of safety being up higher so it becomes an arms race. Might see better too.

There’s a little bit of visual trickery going on with the sloping roofs. The windows actually slope significantly more than the body. There’s not *that* much storage space lost.

Definitely. I think those are the exceptions and not the norms. I can come up with examples too. I know a guy who has done great for himself. Wife spends lavishly on jewelry. He drives a Pontiac sedan. My grandmother always had some mid level American car like a Buick. I just think at the end of the day most wealthy

Some are for sure but the super wealthy I know or know of are driving expensive stuff.

Agree it's gotta look fresh. I'm guessing this can be had for a few thousand under asking price which leaves room for even som body work if necessary.
