They track where money goes. They have a major role in disrupting terrorists’ finances tracking bank transactions and evidently purchases. That’s true but look at the history. Ford and Chevy made a lot of easy money on smaller trucks for years and that kept them fat and happy and insulated. Who needs to compete with the Civic when protectionism is helping them coin money on trucks? Play out the counter factual and Honda and Toyota would have built better…

Stock prices for Ford and GM were basically unchanged. If real foreign competition was coming to trucks they would have nose dived.
