Cheaper purchase price, yes, but they will depreciate much faster and cost more to operate (gas, brake pads and more). Their warranties run out faster too. Cost of ownership is the thing to consider.

This comment seems to say that lower-middle class African-American is the same thing as gang banger. I hope that’s not what you meant. You might clear it up.
FWIW Bimmer sells just about as many 5 series as 3s by volume and maybe more by dollars. Point taken BMW isn’t regarded for penultimate luxury. It's a sporty brand.
I’m not sure that’s correct. S drops about 1/3 in the first year. I can't find figures for the 7 though I doubt it's far behind.
All of them have shit hanging from the rear view mirror.
Enjoy your Prius, Brian.
Thank God I can still go on Jalopnik and read about VW Beetle enthusiasts without tortured accusations of Nazism.
Agree with everything you’ve written. At the same time there’s never been a better time to be alive for car video. Smoking Tire, Everyday Driver, Jay Leno, Drive, Engineering Explained, Regular Car Reviews, Petrolicious... And then some newer ones like Savage Geese. If you haven’t seen them, do. The boob tube is dumb…
You're so right. Supercharged Toyobaru is like $30k. There's a lot of out of warranty sports cars that would be better for $15k.
We have been finally getting that NSX for a long time. I'll believe it when it's here.
See my comments below about Mazda. I think the new Miata looks fantastic. I love that they put real R&D money into making it lighter. Its not more powerful but they did some work on the engine to make the power come on faster. Now, how about a new RX-7? And where have you gone NSX, S2000, Supra...
Are the tow ratings US or European? Lots of cars rated for zero in the U.S. but allowed to tow a lot in Europe.
I’d suggest there’s lots of innovation and good or at least much improved styling in the U.S. Market. Ford as you mentioned is doing well. The Mustang, Focus, Fiesta doing well and seeing big power and handling gains. Compare the hatches to the STI which has had the basically the same engine for about a decade.…
Japanese cars in a nutshell. Little recent technical innovation. When they aren't bland, they're weird.
Iago was in Jasmine. What’s Othello?
Came here to post this. The twin turbos can be had for the same price.
Agree, the drive train upgrades are expensive. I’m not sure what the previous poster meant by lower rung cars. It seemed like he meant any C Class or 2/3/4 series BMW. From an enthusiast standpoint, I would opt for the smaller lighter car. The interiors are nice, maybe not as sumptuous as the higher series but still…
If you are doing heavy work on these buyer’s guides it doesn’t feel like it. These feel like Vox articles that are cribbed from other sources. I’m not saying you do this but it feels that way.
Tavarish can be great. He loves cars, knows a ton about them and genuinely wants to help people get into great cars. Last week I got on him for saying a Ferrari 360 has “no downside”. These are now $60k which may be a great price but it’s risky of course. My frustration is that he sometimes writes things and I believe…
