@stever: Better with the sound off.

@Reptar2022: "static films"?? Are you reffering to cling wrap? Sounds like an interesting solution, though the vinyls and plastics I've tested all worked for only a few write/erase cycles before needing replacement.

No. No, no, no, no! I'm already spending WAY TOO MUCH time here! Just say no!

@jetRink: Is that what that stuff is called? Hehehe I was just thinking that I could use this to put a nice wallpaper up that would be something like a video of a waterfall.

As I feared, it doesn't work for me. Not the fault of the program, but rather the setup at the office. We have a script that assigns a set of printers and a default printer based on the computer name (ergo location, ergo closest printers). It runs each time a user logs in. When it runs, it first deletes any

@lmathews: Sure, when they're written correctly. I have a program at work (which I'm about to be late for) that requires the printer it uses for a specific function to be the default- along with certain non-standard settings. Each time I use it, I have to connect to the printer, set it as default, set the advanced

@Almightywhacko: Ditto! Easier, faster, no extra stuff. Why do it any other way?

Excellent article. I'm proud to say, I already do most of this. :) I'm pretty well-traveled and I can say that knowing a little of the local language is very beneficial. Wandering around assuming we can just use English is how we get into trouble. One of the greatest, simple web sites is [users.elite.net] Even in

@Myles Hawkins: As a (generally) proud American, I would like to apologize for one of the those things we really manage to screw up: welcoming foreign travelers. Hell, I frequently can't get foreign currency when I'm heading OUT of the US. Sometimes I can get Euros, maybe Pesos.

@luckycharms: Though what you say covers many people's problems, it doesn't cover it all.

@witeowl: No cookies... Let us set it for our log-in.

@bmearns: Exactly my point. Rather than using programming libraries that are already correctly designed, they use sloppy programming of their own (or from a friend, etc) that is not set up correctly. And yes, it is extremely contemptible.

@bmearns: Except that many websites (banks, etc) aren't programmed correctly to recognize this standard.

But I still can't read the comic!

The snooze on my clock is 4 minutes. I hit that poor thing for an extra hour or more every morning! I don't go back to sleep; I just can't wake enough right away to get moving. I've found that, for me, this actually sets me in a better mood than just getting right up.

Years ago, I was at a B&B in England and I forgot to mention to the lady of the house that I was lactose intolerant. And she serves a proper, FULL breakfast, so it starts with a bowl of cereal. She said a friend of hers uses OJ on her corn flakes, so I tried it (skeptical though I was). GREAT! It's a nice,

@ptrader: I absolutely second that!

@addidis: While gold can be a better conductor and resistant to corrosion, the last thing you want to have is a bi-metal connection. Connecting your gold-plated cable to your steel port creates just such a thing. This has a few negative effects. One, the the difference in conductance between the two sets up an
