The part where his son holds on to the paper and puts it in his pocket leads me to believe it wasn’t a happy ending for all, as his son will continue to pursue the case, and thus, repeat the sin of his father, allowing the case to take over a part of his life.

As a child of a father with memory issues, the scene with Wayne and Rebecca in the car when she tells him, “I miss you right now” broke my heart.
