City school, not small school. They have a local precinct for the city police, but the school itself is “separated” from the police. Liability issues I would assume.

In many of these situations, the school is limited from the start unless it happens on campus. Once it moves off, they can only aid the police or help by attempting a student conduct hearing.

As a recent graduate, one of the common misconceptions people I talk to have is that the campus police are in charge of most of these situations. Born in ‘93, 9/11 is the one where i realized there was a world outside of the Eastern United States. I remember being in the library at school and the teachers all were huddled around the TV and fighter jets and helicopters were flying over our school every few minutes heading toward Philly and NYC.
