I both appreciated and enjoyed Hannah’s counter-intuitive sports movie takes even if I sometimes disagreed with them. A writer unafraid to stunt on America’s most tightly held adolescent screen memories always deserves an audience.

Special Projects covered just how bad the news bosses were fucking things up:

Theyre taking buyouts, not being laid off

Is being laid off due to corporate greed jumping ship?

This implies that they’ve started showering regularly, which... is debatable.

ending Moe Wagner’s NBA career before it even began.

I seem to recall Willian just destroying Barcelona earlier this year. He’s just got a specific skill set that teams can either shut down hard or get absolutely roasted by, with little in between.

He is regularly one of the most fouled players in the world. Players just take free shots at him in every game he plays, and he gets no help from the refs. I’m not sure which is cause and effect. Does he flop because he doesn’t get calls or does he not get calls because he flops?

To be honest, kind of yeah. Even despite that hot start, this was another tournament they went out in the first knockout game. And those last two games showed that while Mexico is able to start hot, once their opponent adjusts to them, they had very answers at that point.

Is that you, Juan Carlos?

Mexico had 15 corners during their World Cup — and got 1 shot on goal. They were wildly erratic in front of goal. The best that can be said about them was they ran fast.

That was clearly peak Neymar, but it also should have been a straight red. Mexico got lucky that the VAR guy was drunk and are somehow complaining about it.

How Layun got out of that without a card is beyond me. Neymar 100% oversold the whole ordeal, but if Osorio thinks the refs intervened too much, he’s nuts. He could (and should) have been down a man for the last 20+ mins of the match, and should be grateful the refs didn’t get even more involved.

Not really. Things went from incredibly good to incredibly bad way to fast for this to be stagnant.

According to Osorio (one observer), the Brazil player’s theatrics wasted precious minutes, may have corrupted children and—perhaps worst of all—was not manly.

Oh yeah I forgot Italy

Italy’s absence from this year’s WC has dropped embellishment incidents by 25% on its own.

What’s so dirty about how Brazil plays?

You know the rankings are based on results, right? There’s not a guy in Zurich putting a list together.

Phillip Rivers thinks three is nowhere near enough.
