No. I would not try to make the argument that murder is not a big deal, either, and yet if you read any history you see that humans perform it wholesale throughout history. So stating that something horrific is commonplace historically is not the same thing as saying that it is not horrific.

You’ve never actually shot anything, have you? Longbows would be used in volleys at 100-200 yards according to the books. Lots of weird wind stuff can happen in that distance especially in a long arc that rises high into the sky.
