paid mods would have caused a massive paradigm shift in the modding community and while I don’t necessarily have a problem with modders getting some compensations for their efforts...it would have changed the landscape and not necessarily for the better.

I agree it shouldn’t be allowed and US Copyright law is probably the worst in the world. Especially when shitty companies with shitty products try to make money off royalties for having such a common fucking word as their name, fuck them.
