They should have called it BASH/DIRT instead

Few engines produce peak power at redline. Remember these engines have minimal torque, and what it does have is way up top. So holding till 9 puts the engine in a better RPM on the upshift.

As a 2015 WRX owner who previously owned several M3's, Corvettes, Z cars and an NSX, this I agree.

I purchased a 91 NSX 5-speed with 68k miles for $25k in 2005. It was 100% stock, red on ivory, and drove like a masterpiece. It was my daily driver for a year. I added about 15k miles, tracked it a few times and then sold it for $25k but I probably could have gotten near $30k if I held out.
