There are a million annoying things that happen in a movie theater. People will be on their cell phones texting and that bright light is annoying. People will talk and be annoying. People will kick your chair. People will spill their snacks. People will laugh at scenes that are not meant to be funny. All of these

Ha, yes, somehow their $$ is worth far more than ours so we have to adhere to THEIR needs, not ours.

Only travel in groups of two or less, otherwise people will have to READ!!!!!!

Did they all ask to sit together? That’s such a bullshit response. The issue is that able bodied people shit their pants because, captions. It absolutely drives people mad. That’s the issue.

It wasn’t a fucking party. It was deaf paying customers that they wouldn’t accommodate, and they knew it. They brought light to it. Are the Deaf/deaf/HOH the new Crips for god sakes? Should we only travel in parties of two? One at a time? And be told that, since we are just a minorty we should fuck off? And DAMN! You

I enjoy it when the HoH people around me can enjoy their experience. If you can’t enjoy a movie with CC that’s your problem and you can stay home and watch movies on Netflix. It goes both ways, asshole.

That doesn’t make anyone a bad person, or unsympathetic to your plight.

All my love to you and thank you for telling it straight. Apparently some people don’t get what “entitled” really means. To make it clear to the shitty people here: if you are complaining about the tiniest compromise that would make others so happy, you definitely are the entitled one.

I’m sorry. People are shitty about disability. I’ve had people tell me how lucky I am to have a condition that routinely leaves me bedbound, because hey, staying in bed is awesome. Big hugs to you.

I’m really sorry to hear that. I’m a professor and my institution is the first to have a Deaf Studies major in my state. A lot of my hearing students love learning ASL and are hoping to become involved in our public school system. Some have told me about the deplorable conditions that our deaf and HOH K-12 students

I freaking LOVE captioning because it helps ensure that I don’t miss little things, as I am the tiniest bit hard of hearing and some accents get completely garbled for me. I usually keep captions on at home and will purposefully book seats in theaters where a captioned film is being shown. People are entitled, ableist

Yeah. “As soon as possible” is a ridiculous claim. Deaf people weren’t just spontaneously created five seconds ago, and this law is not new either. The ADA is famously ignored. It has to be forced by courts before companies take action.

You’re speaking from your own limited experience, and you’re ignoring everything about what actually happened this Saturday.

Oh, I remember that well. Right there with you (especially the cognitive disabilities).

I find captions distracting (I read faster than the words are spoken, so I end up super out of sync). I also finding giggling teenagers, people wearing cologne, loud chewers, and cute babies distracting. The fact that I find something distracting or have a dispreference for it SHOULD NOT be reason to bar access or

Wow. My parents would have learned if for no other reason that there is no way there would have been a language used in our house that was only understood by their kid.

The fuck is wrong with those people? I was watching Switched at Birth when I was pregnant, so I was telling my husband- “If our kid is deaf and we do get them a cochlear implant, I still want us to all learn to sign in case something happens to it. Heather can teach us.”
He hears fine, but you know, pregnancy.

What the actual hell.

Non hearing-impaired person here, and I ALWAYS keep the CC on my tv at home, so that I don’t miss anything, and it helps me multitask. It also helps with certain accents. I would LOVE to have CCs on all the time in movie theaters tbh!

I wish all visual media had captions. My husband is hard of hearing and it’s the only thing that keeps helps him.
