The fear of welfare fraud and the myth of the Black Welfare Queen is what I always remind my sorta Republican friends of when they want to wax on about Reagan. It persists today because of the racist GOP and its entire voting block of racists.

I really thought that Trump would be the one to help the middle to lower class people a lot of people today can’t afford the food prices you can work two three jobs and still not be able to pay all your bills you get further and further behind every week you don’t get paid enough money to work you can’t keep your car…
I had a conversation with a younger coworker on this subject a couple years ago. He was arguing in favor of placing strict limits on the kind of products people could purchase with SNAP benefits. His position was that, as they were using his tax money, he had a right to limit what they could do with it.
Let’s not concede dumb points to assholes who want to end welfare. Let’s definitely not make their points for them.
I personally hate food stamp programs, but only because of the simple fact that it is treating a symptom and not working towards a cure for the real disease: poverty. What we need is fixing education from the ground up, improving employment standards, and breaking down the wage gap. It is something that’ll take 3…
“Both of them are a direct result of lack of trust in and support for the SNAP program”
Exactly. Add to that the fact that SNAP is one of the most economically beneficial government programs there is—for every dollar invested by SNAP, people put in $1.79 back into the economy. That’s a great return on investment outside of the other benefits, including the very obvious one of helping people not starve,…
Thank you! The issue with SNAP is lack of funds and an excess of beurocratic bullshit. The concept (give people money so they can eat) is a perfectly sound one that works well when it is properly funded (although obviously larger systemic poverty issues, like food deserts, can still be an issue). Every study I have…
Is it though, at it’s center? As a legal aid attorney who works with welfare recipients, I see two problems with SNAP.
I am going to repeat what you are saying to demonstrate that I understand how you are feeling.
It’s really hard to tell if he’s an Orange Crested Silver Spoonbill or a Ruddy Cheeked Throb Gobbler. We need an ornithologist to help us out here.
Shouldn’t running a business also include some heart because, you know, business decisions have the same sort of consequences?
I have a feeling that he’s just a parrot. Not parroting, but rather an an actual parrot. It explains both is complexion and his hair.
I just bellowed with laughter, thank you.
No! Don’t fall for it. He’s been throwing heart and love into his word soup since - good lord I can’t even remember which scandal it was... anyway since he realized everyone pretty much hates him.
If this (barely) sentient cum rag understands that there are repercussions from his actions then we are in worse trouble than ever imagined.
That’s what I thought.
(Unintelligible)
You’re providing health. This is (unintelligible). Here, everything, pretty much everything you do in government, involves heart, whereas in business, most things don’t involve heart.
The Civil War wasn’t about slavery, y’all. It was about States’ Rights!
