We did elect someone we knew was going to try to personally profit from the job. I’m not sure we have the standing to complain about it when he does. It is like marrying a drunk and complaining when she drinks.

That is the right analysis. The presidency humbles a regular human into certain practicalities. I’m not sure Trump is going to let this happen to him. Pence is awful but a safe, normal, predictable awful. Like George Bush without W’s personal concern and tolerance for gays, minorities, etc.

I don’t know. Isn’t a part of the deal we made with him that he was going to steal money from the country? I think we elected someone who was going to graft so we can’t complain when he does.

You are not as bad a person as you think. But I don’t know that “the NBA does it” is an iron-clad argument. Maybe, and I’m just spiff balling here, the NBA is not infallible.

I disagree. You are just saying they are not building a bench because the optics are we don’t have a great bench. The reality is that having a reasonably popular president for 8 years puts every other person in that party in the background plus everyone knew we were going to give Hillary a turn.

Let’s not get carried away. These are not particularly educated athletes. LeBron says it and you say well. Your neighbor says it and you ignore him. Everyone has a voice and these guys do too. But I’m not looking to them for political leadership or wisdom, just to shoot the ball.

Really? I could not agree more. The first four episodes were great. The last 5 or so... I don’t understand the development of these characters at all. I expected more.
