They’ve singed the contracts before Anschutz bought Goldenvoice in 2001? That’s a nice way of saying *Don’t critcize those artists that I like. If it was Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift on the other hand...*
No fuck this...The big acts, Beyonce at least, is a fucking zillionaire entertainer and major influencer across a broad range of demographics. She can take the financial hit to take a real stand here.
Beyonce is one of the artists who played a concert for Muammar Qaddafi’s son, so I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for her to take a stand here.
I think they’re smart enough to figure out that once they cultivate their die hard fan base, they can literally do anything and their fans will justify it or put up with it.
So it’s not their responsibility to make sure that they aren’t lending their names and drawing power to someone like this? These are people that can pick and choose whom they do business with, not struggling artists who have to work with shitty promoters because there’s no one else that will book them.
“Don’t go vilifying Beyoncé or Kendrick or Lorde etc, now!”
I doubt that any of these artists have long, multi-year contracts for Coachella.
Sorry, I don’t believe any big name stars sign contracts without investigating with whom they are interested in doing business.
Exactly.
But how else am I going to spend a whole paycheck on a multi-day gauntlet of blistering sun, filthy hordes, and 2 bands I actually like embedded deep within 17 I don’t?
I doubt that musicians appearing in 2017 signed a contract in 2001.
Teen Vogue is killing it and I am enjoying watching all the men be like “but women who like shoes can only write about shoes! herp derp”
