This looks like the work of Robert Crumb.

I'm glad this infertile couple got a child, but what infuriated me was a similar request from a couple who already had seven kids, two of whom were special needs and one who was still a tiny infant. Oh, and of course they were dirt poor. But "Jesus" (and Facebook) "provides"!

You make good points. I should have taken a breath and stepped away from the computer before I posted that rant. I do in fact support social programs and recognize that not every person who is poor is also free from obligation.

If she doesn't care about traveling, then she has no right to bitch. It's like complaining that some people have read amazing books and you just don't like to read. Or being irritated that some people brag about their fast cars and you don't even care about cars at all. Like, why bitch and blame being poor if the

I was just really mad when I wrote my original comment. I'm in fact a democrat and support most social programs. I should also clarify the animosity I have for people bitching is people who do in fact have middle class lifestyles acting like they can't travel/get a degree etc. The author says she has passed into

Thanks. I shouldn't have flown off the handle like that, I just got really irritated reading the article.

Haha, yes, very.

Abusive childhood? Honey, you don't want to hear my stories. And correct me if I'm wrong, but did you not just say you are becoming educated and traveling? So . .. it sounds like two of us can do it.

That is a completely different situation and I applaud you for staying. You have family obligations. That is different than blaming lack of money for not becoming educated and/or traveled.

Two and four.

It must feel great to find a way to undermine a success story, huh? I'm actually in my beautiful home watching my two small children eat the nutritious meal I cooked. I'm sorry I can't make you feel better about yourself by confirming your drunk theory. Try to improve your life and you won't need to tear other people

True, I was very lucky. I also believe people make their own luck.

If you're too exhausted at 18 to work and plan for travel then you might have a medical condition.

"You clearly don't have kids"

Actually, so much of this article pisses me off. I was on my own with zilch, nothing, three dollars and a friend's couch at 17. My mentally ill mom disowned me, I couldn't afford Taco Bell. Etcetera. And I will be a BIG ASSHOLE and tell you I went to a nice private college (on scholarship, also working 40+ hours a

I could not agree with your comment more. I've seen this from lots of sources, but this is the only one that called their age "extreme" which has a negative connotation.

Agreed. And I am not an Anne Hathaway person.

Oh lord, this is bad? You should have seen my list. I had stuff like, "must have good hands" and "big schnozz preferred". I've been happily married for five years. Get a list, people!

I think the aspect most "birth lovers" get addicted to is the control/letting go of control over one's own body. It's painful, but also very empowering. I don't understand why people get extreme body modifications, but I think it's along that same vein of enjoying the overcoming of pain.
