It doesn’t have to be this way. We don’t have to accept people changing definitions of words because it better suits their own social agendas. Shrug.

Whose basic principles are rooted on how to distribute land/money/economics. So, no. They’re economic models. This is well established.

Socialism, capitalism, and communism are economic models.

Wait for your 25th reunion to find out that one of those guys now works in private equity.

I went to college, so I know FOR A FACT that socialism is two dipshits in their early 20's at a party arguing about whether or not it’s better praxis to identify as a Maoist or a Marxist-Leninist, while definitely agreeing that Sage Francis is a top 5 rapper (maybe all time) and that they would both have girlfriends

>>If I have to spend the next 17 months listening to a Duck Dynasty guy equate Maduro and Che Guevara while Bernie and Warren supporters fight one another over t-shirt slogans and Fox News plays it all for ratings gold I am going to lose my shit.

For whatever reason, “socialism” is a dirty word in America, and it’s loosely interpreted to a detriment to its citizens. Kind of like telling people that they’re “Hitler” on the internet.

Does socialism mean “Venezuela?” No. I think we can agree it does not mean that, despite the constant yelling.

I would argue that dragging a thought into the public consciousness and actually accomplishing the task/thought are not the same thing.

“If I have to spend the next 17 months listening to a Duck Dynasty guy equate Maduro and Che Guevara while Bernie and Warren supporters fight one another over t-shirt slogans and Fox News plays it all for ratings gold I am going to lose my shit.”

I’ll take that as a “No”, or even a “I dont have a coherent understanding of the subject matter”.

You know you’re on the right track when they bust out the gifs. Was there a single thing i said that was incorrect that you can point out?

“Oh no, its not authoritarianism, thats a bad thing, we just want to make people safe and happy. Thats a good thing!”. - The mentality of a moron

These days it seems like a lot of people don’t know what democracy is either.

Personally, the second someone mentions the word “socialism” I tune out. They have already defined the word in their own head to agree with their argument and are not likely to have anything of importance to say.

It means the means of production, including capital and individual liberty, should be owned and controlled by the community as a whole. Under the helpful protecting hand of the state, of course.

This isnt a new or misunderstood concept. Its authoritarianism without a king. No authoritarian is evil for the sake of

As an introvert I’m opposed to socialism. Everyone should just stay home and not bother each other.

Honestly the fact Biden is the only one doing this is probably helping him. He’s specifically been running to appeal to the people who think Trump is an anomaly and everything was fine before him. He doesn’t make them think about the tough existential shit those of us further left (and/or younger) think about.

I’m sorry... have you covered elections before?  Nothing here was remotely new or unique for a stump speech.  If you’re another child-blogger fresh out of school, buckle up because it’s going to be a hell of a ride.

“how dare Biden talk about the person he wants to run against! Now, let me talk about Hillary again."

Kind of hilarious to drop the “Grumpier Old Men” comp when half the frontpagers on this site so clearly back a famously grumpy old man. Glasshouses and what not.
