I’m not stupid, just not well versed in Virginia politics. So why did this Tom Perriello fellow not win his primary? Or do these things tend to happen in smoke filled rooms like in the old days?

To compare, let’s look at the major legislative accomplishments, working with either party, that Bernie has achieved in his nearly 30 years in Congress.

Much, much deeper in the system. The tax code has to be overhauled. No matter what you do, there are completely legal ways for the “ultra-rich” to dodge paying any tax you throw at them. There are entire financial services industries dedicated to minimizing tax burdens on the rich.

We may be able to learn from Trump, in the same way an engineer will learn from a spaceship accident or some other type of catastrophic malfunction. 

Republicans were satisfied with Obama’s presidency. They weren’t happy, but they were satisfied. They went along with the program as silent partners. They did literally zero anything to help Obama, but they didn’t hardcore try to change the trajectory of governance and society like they are today.
