yes, faulty HDMI does cause this... ppl are just confused about it... but if you notice, the HDMI problem that Kotaku posted also had this (light doesn't turn White), the light just turn WHITE when the PS4 is successfully connected to a TV.

If you put the HDMI cable and fucks up the port, bye bye.
