This would be so much easier to read without the shitty slideshow.

Fuck off with these gallery listicles, seriously.

...Really? I’m gonna have to Google the thing myself? Maaaan...

I think the problem Star Trek currently faces is the “who is it for?” question.

They crapped the bed with this show.

meh these are a little too nit picky.

I think the review are harsh but basically fair. I’m enjoying the show more than Zack, but everything he cites as a problem is pretty much legit. The story is being told very sloppily.

It’s shit.  Even as a generic sci-fi show, it’s really shit.

If you watch it all close together, it’s not hard to follow at all. I imagine it might be with weeks between episodes, but I rewatched last year and was like ahhhh yeah. And don’t worry if it’s confusing halfway through, the final few episodes tie everything together really well.

1). Because it was cool

There are a lot of nitpicky things I can say about how the “true” backstory of the Time Lords screws up a bunch of stuff that depended on the previous “true” backstory of the Time Lords (I can highlight the Master’s entire plot in the RTD-era with the drums, the whole Melody Pond/River Song origin, and a big chunk of

I don’t care about messing with the continuity, but to then make it actually change nothing at all made this a pointless exercise. It would have made so much more sense if the Master had been the timeless child. And I wish they’d give Jodie more to do than just look slightly annoyed while other people give exposition

What kind of twisted madman doesn’t like John Mulaney? In all seriousness, you didn’t even find his bit about the army knocking on people’s door and asking to live at their house funny?

The talent they’ve recruited is actually pretty promising, but boy am I uninterested in this format.

Everything about this is dumb.

Completely agreed. The characters of Picard and Seven are almost nothing like what they used to be. Seven should never have been in the series, at least not in this capacity.

ABSOLUTELY AGREED. The show is rote, and cruel, and shallow, and cliched. I don’t say this lightly, but after this episode, I can confidently conclude that Picard fucking sucks. And it breaks my heart, because I love, love Trek.

After watching this episode, I am completely baffled as to what the creative team behind the show is doing. I have been uneasy for a bit, but willing to be patient. But I agree with all of the points in the review, and it was all a mess.

“She’s on the artifact” “You mean the captured borg cube?” would have been a heck a reveal in this episode...if we hadn’t already been spoiled 5 episodes ago.

Yeah, that episode was a complete tonal misfire. I don’t just mean the wild shifts in tone between ‘comedy’ and gory drama, but it just did not feel like it was made by people who know what Star Trek is.
I’m willing to grant every creator their freedom, and each Star Trek show has put their own stamp on the concept;
