"…the decision to medicate a child is potentially a life altering one and needs to be handled away from the pressures of school, religion, or broad social assumptions"

It's unclear what the fallout of going public would be. The top priority for the clones is to find a cure for the defect that is killing Cosima and others. Collectively they have made the decision that working with Dyad is thier best course of action towards achieving that goal. Note how Donnie still monitors Allison

I know Constance Zimmer is the reason most people without an interest in reality TV will check this out, but Marti Noxon, the show's co-creator, was a long time Buffy writer and the showrunner for the show's final two seasons. She also has writing and producing credits on Mad Men and Grey's Anataomy. So she's got some

a. 5ish years ago. In my early 20's.
b. How is that a question? The scene is jarring. I think its supposed to be jarring. I think it is meant to disturb the audience. To drive home the point that showbiz has real victims who suffer real consequences. It's a powerful tonal shift. What makes it satire comes later. When

Catholics and for that matter Klansmen aren't bad people. They are normal people who just hold bad beliefs.

It took me only one viewing to peg Showgirls as satire. I went in expecting garbage, which is the reputation the film carries, and was surprised to find a compelling not at all garbage film. It's basically an All About Eve remake turned up to 11. It shines a light on showbiz's less savory side. How is it NOT a satire?

I'm too young to have seen Showgirls during its original theatrical run, but just because a movie is marketed poorly, that doesn't make it not a satire. I'm sure RoboCop was marketed as a straight action movie. Entourage, to bring the discussion back, is marketed as a straight comedy/lifestyle porn, but Entourage too

I dunno about that, but everything gets filtered through the director.

Naw, Verhoeven intended it as a dark satire. Not only has he said as much, but his other work is satirical in nature too. Starship Troopers for example is a subversive takedown of Hienlien's facist worldview. This is a director capable of working on multiple levels.

Showgirls is a showbiz satire, which is similar but distinct from being a parody.

I'm vague for a reason. The word comes from internet forums and comment sections plus that Gawker piece. Who knows if these rumors are true? These are not strong sources. Still, when coupled with Kirkman's comments I find the rumors plausible. Likely, even.

That may be true, but I'm sure the writers are aware of the science. This is a show with a clear feminist perspective. I think its safe to assume they are current on LGBT issues. I think the show is making a point of having a lesbian clone. These are the ways in which we are different, bit we're really all the same.

I wouldn't categorize Game of Thrones as a bro fantasy of epic proportions. It's an epic fantasy about medieval politics. Nothing even close to resembling the douchey high-five spirit of Entourage. A douchey high five spirit that is a satirical reflection of Hollywood's very real bro culture, by the way.

And it was badly needed. It's good pacing, and I won't complain about it.

And anytime Pouchie is not on screen, the other characters should be wondering aloud, "Where's Pouchie?"

I've never heard any actor or critic speak poorly of Maslany's work on the show. The only sentiment I've ever heard expressed either by fans, critics, or industry types, is that she's killing it.

No they didn't play it up, the most reliable winning strategy in Agricola is to have children as soon as possible so you can have more turns working the farm.

Loved the Agricola shout out. I imagine this show's audience has a fair amount of overlap with board game nerds, myself included.

Sexual orientation is not strictly genetic. There have been numerous studies done with identical twins, where the twins do not share sexual orientation. The rough scientific consensus is that sexual orientation is deterimined by some combination of genetic, hormonal, and social factors.

I wrote "I don't know if the allegations are true", so no, I wouldn't say that I count the " word" as a reliable source. I wouldn't publish those allegations, for instance. That said I think these allegations are likely to be true, but I also think they are likely (albeit, less likely) to be untrue.
