My point was that Johnny Depp has earned his backlash. These films aren't small failures. They are big financial and creative failures. Why are some fans so eager to let Depp off the hook? Why should we believe he'll choose better projects in smaller films?

Lone Ranger and Transcendence are back to back mega-flops that were sold on Johnny Depp's Star appeal. Say what you will about the quality of his work the past decade, which has been decidedly worse than the quality of work in his first decade, but this is a guy who has gone from arguably the biggest star in Hollywood

Really? That's the worst thing about drugs?

There's nothing wrong with fake news. In fact the show's best moments have come from fake news stories. It was still a dumb decision to write the show in the recent past.

Holy shit. That ending.

This show's writers have shown consistently better instincts than the that of The Office's. I don't think you can grow Andy up without losing what makes him funny. I think the writers know that.

I kind of agree. What's the point of an A if you're not going to give it to this episode. This is a legacy episode for the show (which we know because they gave it a title card) and they nailed it.

I can't imagine they plan on giving that couple children, given that Chis Prat's character appears to be functionally a child.

The review missed the point of Ben's story which was to pair him with Ron, his father figure on the show. Ron taking care of Ben over the course of the episode is what convinces him he wants to be a Dad. Ron helps him get there, even if he was silent all the way. Pairing Leslie with Andy was similarly smart. Leslie

Firstly, the show is a period piece set well before people would have known how dubious polygraph exams are.

I don't know if sophisticated was the right word. Maybe cheap would be better. I love this show and the direction is suitable, but it doesn't compare to the likes of Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad or House of Cards or Mad Men, etc…

It was weird to see Phillip and Elizibeth essentially get the week off. It makes sense given the intensity of last weeks episode, but I think the show suffers from it, nonetheless. A rare misstep for this wonderful show. Still the stuff between Oleg, Stan, and Nina was pretty amazing. When Nina told Stan the she would

Whoa. Not only was tonight's episode about sex, and not just the fun physical parts but the complicated emotional parts too. Regarding the Clark scene though and this wouldn't have been nearly as dramatic or interesting but Phillip and Elizibeth come off pretty dumb for not realizing the nature of their

Some thoughts:

Has it really not been renewed yet? This is FX's Breaking Bad. It's only going to get bigger as more people discover it. I'm doing my part and spreading the gospel, so to speak.

I also loved that detail. I wonder if Arkady will face consequences for that deal?

I had a long conversation here in the comments last week where we talked about the nature of Phillipp's humanity, how close to a monster is he? So the fact that a large part of this episode was various characters questioning Phillipp's humanity made me feel awfully prescient.

Really good rookie season for the show and as Jake Peralta is shunted off undercover for some offscreen character development over the summer (smart, obnoxious is only funny until it's obnoxious) I'll leave you with same stray thoughts and hopes for the second season.

Well, I think we've seen some fair amount of character development from Elizabeth since killing that security guard early in season one. We've seen the doubt creep in. She's softened. We saw the CIA director call out her warrior attitude head on in the season one finale and she relented.

Ultimately, I agree a life of crime is more morally repugnant than being a spy but the parallels are striking. The compartmentalization of domestic/professional, the second life, the violence, and the toll it takes on the human psyche. After all, isn't Walter White's favorite justification, family, just a more
