I'm not so much listing it as a fault, but rather making an observation about what the show is and how it differs from what I want the show to become. I'm being critical of the show, yes, but of it's sensibility as opposed to the show's technical quality which I have found to be promising.

That seemed more of a point of light characterization rather than the show addressing an issue head on. That's fine; It help's us understand where Jill's character is coming from, but the type of sexism she encountered in this episode was so benign and was resolved so easily it did not signal to me the show was

It can be just that. That just happens to be a show I'm not particularly interested in.

I need this show to be more political. It seems like a lost opportunity to set a comedy on a military base and be too tepid to tackle any issues. This could be a show about something. Have a real point of view, but instead it just kind of exists. This feels like a weird episode to bail out on because it's not

I agree. I posit they're not going to have much of a choice. It might take longer than I predict but the future of television will be almost exclusively on demand outside of event programing.

Conan could've worked for the Tonight Show considering I believe the future of late night television will be as a viral content generating machine which Conan was pretty good at. He was just promoted a couple years too early while there was still too much money to made the traditional way with Leno's schtick. I think

He actively pursued those ratings. That broad appeal is a reflection of his talent. Also, his audience is not as broad as you might imagine. I don't watch him and neither do most people I know. His audience was mostly older and largely middle America and he tailored the show to their tastes. I think there is this

It's a pretty terrible format for the 21st century. In the next 10 years 90 percent of television will be delivered via platforms similar to Netflix and there will be no place for an hour long nightly variety show. NBC might keep the lights on to help generate viral content which should increase in value over the next

By all accounts Letterman IS miserable to hang out with.

Leno was more successful than his colleagues because he was a more talented performer than his colleagues. Simple as that. Us nerds get caught up in how hacky his material is, but the guy is a joke telling machine. There isn't a soul better at delivering a hacky joke than Jay Leno. He also knew exactly what his

I don't get the sense that they're trying to say all men are weak idiots either. I see B99 as a show with a progressive worldview and there is nothing in mainstream progressive-ism that claims all men are weak idiots. The show is bassically an argument against traditional values (as defined by conservatives). The

Look, I still like this show, but it's already beginning to feel stale. The problem is the format they chose for the show is just so limiting and the network length season is forcing the writers to keep hitting the same beats over and over again. Note that in this episode the A-plot was set in motion by something mean

I disagree. The show does seem to have a specific political worldview even if it's mostly subtext. It's a show that tackles issues of race, class, gender, and sexual orientation on a regular basis. It's no mistake Holt is black and gay. Or that Terry and Boyle are hyper-sensitive. Or that the most traditionally

Fox knew going in this wasn't going to be a Modern Family style hit. They were looking for a show to pair with New Girl that would do well with critics and high income/internet savvy viewers who don't watch many things live. I wouldn't worry about the numbers. Fox doesn't seem too concerned.

B99 is in fine shape. Gone are the days where you can do particularly meaningful analysis from the overnight ratings. Everything seems to indicate Fox is all in on this show. The 9:30 time slot, the post Superbowl spot, the golden globe. I can promise it's coming back for a 2nd season.

Yawn.

I bet your high school English teacher adored you. I know it's probably too late, but let's work on your reading comprehension. Did I celebrate this show in my comment? Read it again. I'll wait.

Have you never heard of changing the channel? Or a DVR for that matter? It's pretty easy to avoid this show. I can't believe you have the guts to call other people dimwitted when you clearly don't know how to operate a television.

It's the same plot as The Wedding Singer too. What's your point? Completely different formats. It's like comparing athletes from two different sports. Sure they're both athletes, but can you really make a convincing argument that Michael Jordan was better than Wayne Gretzky?

"If you have to google them your references are bad."
