OK, monthly unique visitors is a bit more meaningful. But my example is still similar: what's the difference between the person who views Deadspin once in a month and the person who reads Deadspin 3x/day in that same month? I can't believe that ad buyers don't reward you more for the person who views Deadspin…
That makes no sense. "Unique visitors" — on its own — proves nothing. The person who views Deadspin only once is counted as one unique visitor. The person who views Deadspin 365 consecutive days is also counted as one unique visitor. Ad buyers aren't that dumb, are they?
1. I'm not a Cardinals fan so don't use the word "your" please
If page views don't matter then how on earth does Gawker explain Neetzan Zimmerman?
They're delighted the Cardinals won, it gives them more material and more page views. The Hon. Sen. Clay Davis has a choice remark about that cow patty Marchman just spun on page views not mattering.
HAHA! Page views don't matter - that's a good one! How exactly does this site (and its authors) make money then, everyone gets a shiny silver dollar for good effort? Tell us about Deadspin's journalistic integrity too while you're at it, you dick-pic loving hypocrites. You can't have it both ways - trolling for…
We should keep in mind that the same guy who wrote this post is the same guy who's weekly running playlist posts are full of early 2000's emo or pop punk and hasn't once featured a song that was hip hop, classic rock, funk, etc. So... Grain of salt and all that.
"What exactly does Gawker care about, if not page views?"
as a lifelong cardinals fan, this was perfect. i was waiting to see what deadspin's reaction would be, and to see them not even mention the team that is moving on to the world series just shows what passive-aggressive babies these writers really are.
You could say this is about 'enhancing the experience of Dodger fans' except for the fact that Deadspin has so clearly been trolling Cards fans for the last week or more. The first story was funny. A couple more got a chuckle. At this point it's just makes the writers look petty and the site look like amateur hour.
A 9-run shutout tends to put you in the spotlight. Sorry your shitty team lost.
What exactly does Gawker care about, if not page views?
HA HA HA eat it Deadspin HA HA HA
For an outlet that actually does some solid sports media criticism, you guys have really been a parody of yourselves when it comes to the Dodgers (particularly in the NLCS). The Cardinals win 4 out of 6 games, blowing out the Dodgers in a 2-hit shutout in the elimination game, and you don't even mention a single…
You've taken the gimmick too far. I'm not even a Cardinals fan but your website's whole point is "Sports News without Access, Favor, or Discretion" and you're committing the cardinal (no pun intended) sin of a journalist by making yourself the story. You know what writing about this is going to do in the comments…
God good man, it's not like 98% of Cardinals fans are asking this drivel to be written about them. I personally hate the narrative being forced upon the team that they're stodgy bastards in uniforms. Both teams have fun. 2 players answered a question about Puig flipping his bat. The end.
What is with the Deadspin agenda here? You all seem obsessed with this - like poor pathetic Reds fans who scream "why doesnt anybody talk about us?" after they win a division title or two but shit themselves in October.
Not sure why an article about the Cardinals and their tradition makes the fans unaware.
I was holding my breath in anticipation for the latest "shit on the Cardinals"piece. Glad I can exhale now.
