I see your captain’s chairs with a pass though and raise you taking out a middle row seat.

Is there a name for that “battle”? I’d like to read whatever description there is for the history of that.

If going somewhere even further with layovers (we go visit family in Brazil with 3 little kids leaving from the West Coast) try to find the cheapest way to get access to the airline lounges. For example we used to fly Delta with a layover in Atlanta. We got the AMEX Delta card that lets you buy access to the lounge

After my oldest kid’s first flight (~18 months) when anyone asked her about the flight she would tell them “go up, snack, watch, go down”. She had a plastic container of those baby melts (which she never got otherwise and was honestly too old for) and was arm pit deep into the container trying to reach the bottom but

So, after seeing Hamilton (in Vegas, not crazy Broadway prices...) my wife and I made the “mistake” of playing the soundtrack in the car. Now that is usually the music compromise we make when the kids are in the car instead of princess music. Even my 2 year old gets in the car and starts yelling “Ham-i-ton,

Sorry, I was just kidding because Ford/GM/etc. have no problem taking a name that has stood for something for decades and slapping it on something that doesn’t really make sense if they think they can make a few extra bucks.

For the love of God, don’t say that too loudly or we’ll end up with a Camaro/Mustang branded 4 door. Although if they could be convinced not to try to cash in on the Mustang name there is precedent for a 4 door Cougar, now to try to get Mercury revived...

My go to is usually a Pork Wellington (Alton Brown’s recipe - find it on Food network’s website) when it is just my immediate family as the smaller size works better with only 2 adults and small kids. Usually paired with sweet potato gnocchi, sausage dressing, and peas with pancetta . If the larger family gets

No, I do not want to come to your dry party for kids. Stop inviting me and making me feel bad for not wanting to sit there and soberly listen to people talk about their children when I have none—all while kids scream in the background.

Why do Las Vegas and Phoenix usually get left off lists like these?

  • First things first: charcoal, wood, or gas? Gas. Charcoal is great and wood is more manly but honestly unless I am planning to make an event out of it I’m just looking for the easiest, fastest way to get it ready to go.

I got mine on sale at Best Buy ($270) when they were closing them out after announcing the new models. My wife refused to buy one for about a year so I finally just bought it when I saw the sale, I still get husband points whenever she runs it (she refuses to use the automatic timer becasue she wants to make sure toys

Thank you, I hadn’t searched for a recipe in about a week so I haven’t seen that yet. I’ll have to try them soon!

I’ve tried one (bacon, obviously) and it was pretty darn good. Not good enough to pay for more of them since you only get 2 bites when you buy them at Starbucks, but if I can make them at home I’d definitely do so for the brownie points and enjoy them myself (and make more than 2 bites worth).

To be completely selfish, the Starbucks egg bites. My wife loves those (and has bought more than a few...they are pretty pricey for 2 bites of eggs!) and has been harassing me to make them at home but I haven’t found a good copy cat recipe yet.

Please, please, please always use the locks. My company sells and services shop equipment. You have no idea how many techs in dealerships either don’t put the lift on locks before going under it or find ways to completely disable the locks because holding 2 handles to make it go down is too much work.

LATCH systems!!! I do not get why minivan manufacturers do not make every seat a LATCH seat. Minivans have exactly 1 primary purpose (they can do a ton of other stuff too), move a bunch of people many of whom may be small enough to need a car seat. Going through 2016 minivans when we bought ours only the Honda had the

Honda Odyssey has 2 captain chairs with a removable middle seat. Middle one is small though. That is a bit of an issue in ours but I just saw the 2018 Odyseey is supposed to have some kind of intercom (and cameras with night vision, because of course it does) to talk to the back seat. Meanwhile I just tell the older

If you are shopping for a different car (point #2) the best advice that no one wants to hear is... “Suck it up and buy the minivan.” I fought with my wife for months (its her car) before she finally caved. Now after a year she is happy she finally did it. Trying to strap a kid into a seat in the middle of a row or in
