I think the smaller trucks died off because of that emissions thing where the fuel economy has to go up so much every year, I forget the name of it. That soot will eventually clog the EGR valve closest to the engine. If the engine also has an intake anti-shudder valve, it’ll mess that up too.

A straight piped VW (like the ones in question) w/a stage 2+ tune only smokes between shifts, & even then its just a little puff.

I was talking about the “work truck” trim selling better. For instance, if I needed a fleet of trucks, I’d like for them to look nice but be optioned like a 1985 Chevy C10.

They’d sell better if they could be had new for under $15k. Something the size of an F-150 w/o all the touch screens & whatnot. Just an engine that can tow & a comfortable bench seat. Maybe a 3rd door on the passenger side for extended cab versions.
