Thanks for posting a reply. I'm afraid I do have to disagree with your assessments, though. I thought McGregor did a very fine job — maybe not every moment sang, but toward the end, when he had to show Emmitt's vulnerable, pained, remorseful side, I really felt it! And I absolutely loved Thewlis's performance and

Season summation time!

A++!! I laughed; I cheered; I cried. What more can you ask for?? A triumphant episode!

Is it even possible to meet Ray Wise in the real world now and not think that you've died, or are in some sort of purgatory or parallalel dimension? If I'm ever in New York or LA and happen to cross his path, you'd better believe I'll be pinching myself and asking others if they can see me. Not that this wouldn't be

Right, because Sy (despite his flaws) is a sea of goodness amidst all this evil and horror… I was petrified of losing him. I think he'll bounce back now though. That was one heck of a well-done scene.

I miss Lou (and Hank, and Betsy)!! I'm still very much enjoying this season, but the one thing it does lack from past seasons is a certain depth, from a central family unit we grow attached to. Carrie Coon does a fine job as Gloria, but I don't feel quite as invested in her trials and tribulations. I think the show

I cheered. Now we just need him to team up with Nikki and bring down Varga's whole operation.

Right, I hope Mr. Wrench appearing wasn't just a momentary "Hey, look!" that's already ended… I'd love to see him eventually team up with Nikki (assuming they're alive) against Varga and his crew!

Yeah, while I daydream about any number of suspenseful denouements (e.g., an acquaintance of one of the Jennings finally sees them in one of their disguises; Stan witnesses an act of violence by one of the Jennings and has an epiphany; etc., etc.,), I'm terrified that we will be slow-burned to death in the final

In 100% agreement, sir.

I hope you're right, but I actually didn't think that. I thought his expression just reflected him considering her words, her suggestion that he would be abandoning a department that needed someone like him.

"Olya, you don't want to hurt anyone, do you?"

Alison Wright is phenomenal, and that was this season's shining moment. If only we'd gotten some more of those… meaning, any kind of character or plot movement.

As always, we watched a well-filmed, superbly acted episode. And as always, that does not forgive an entire 13-episode installment of a TV show that advanced the story not at all. Really, guys? That's it? Weren't we, for all intents and purposes, in this exact same position a season ago? Let me put it this way:

Thanks for bringing that inactive brain cell back — love it.

Geez, is there no one on the staff over 40? No one has an original, original memory? In fact, am I, at 49, the oldest reader of AV Club? Should I be escorted out? … Anyway, my earliest memory is in the damn theater in 1977, at age 9, *LITERALLY* on the edge of my seat the entire time, mouth agape, in wide-eyed

Yes, you should pick it up again. I'm personally not understanding any of the "OMG what a drop in quality" assessments. I myself freely admit that something is missing in gravitas this season that was there in the first two (and especially so in the wonderful second season). BUT, it's still fantastic in my opinion!

I can't not reply when somebody starts a "my favorite TV show of all time" conversation. :-) Won't go into my complete list, but I agree that Fargo (in totality) is probably in my Top 5. The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones are probably also in there (like, I suppose, for most everyone!). I keep hearing

Did anyone else think Paige was stringing up a noose to hang herself?! Man, I was "shook" for those few beats. But I must admit that at the exact same time I was excited about The Americans pulling a major stunner like that, something to really rock you and make you FEEL. Alas, I was wrong, and the great Tower of

I agree; I really like the actor, and he delivers his lines perfectly in terms of smarm and self-importance, but his motivations don't really make a ton of sense to me.
