I did miss that part, and it wasn’t in the news clip.

My point was just that I don’t think this was as malicious as it is presented. The news is all acting like they caught the tech from that scene in Bueller’s Day Off.

Lol just as long as you change the oil first

I think you’re getting upset at the wrong issue. If it was a legitimate joyride or caused any damage whatsoever, then the dealership has to be held liable. If it’s a tech trying to diagnose an idling issue or a porter taking your car through an automatic carwash, I don’t understand the outrage.

Of course! That would certainly be something a dealership would have to be held liable for.

Honestly, at my dealership we simply don’t have time to joyride cars even if we wanted to. One of the reasons I’d be willing to forgive a guy for going through the drive-thru of a fast food place is because he’s probably doing multiple things on his lunchbreak and/or bringing back food for other techs. He shouldn’t

It’s not outrageous, though, either. You don’t know that the car was only in for an oil change (or that the dealership doesn’t have a “checklist” they go through on every car). Driving it down the road on your lunch break to see if you can identify some vague noise or sound that a customer complains out happens every

I work in the service department at a dealership and we drive every single car that comes through. As part of our service we wash and vacuum the vehicle at the car wash down the street. I know the owner thinks they “caught” the employee doing something outrageous but really they just caught them doing their job.

Yeah, I work in the service department at a dealership and this is not at all surprising. I can’t believe this is even made out to be some kind of scandal. The porters and techs wash every car that gets serviced and of course we are excited when special/performance editions come through. They’re rare (and, hopefully

I know it’s not a “favorite” necessarily, but it’s certainly more fun than a Yaris (regardless of transmission).

The Infiniti EX35, Golf Alltrak, Mercedes GLA, BMW X1, Audi Allroad, etc.

Pretty sure Chrysler did that for CAFE to offset the 9 mpg Ram trucks they were also selling. I remember car magazines commenting on the ridiculousness of it even before it went on sale. Sort of like Subaru sticking two plastic seats in the back of the BRAT was obviously just to get around the chicken tax.

I’ve noticed that dealers in urban areas (if you can call Portland, OR “urban”) have virtually no interest in negotiating online. A friend of mine managed to get a decent deal on a Ford Edge via internet bargaining but had to drive 8 hours away for it. Personally, I’m an employee at the Portland Mini dealership and

I was actually trying to build a manual transmission XE...Point taken, though.

There is literally no other choice than an Audi A6 Allroad. It rides on air! You can even get a manual. Frankly you can probably get 2 for $10k, but I’d resist that urge...because it’s a 10 year old car that rides on air.

Is this “4 door” actually a 5 door? (Cause that would be sweet)

In the more near future this could be huge for nerds like myself who love collecting and customizing small-scale cars. You know who you are.

I tend to believe Toyota is thinking way ahead to April Fool’s Day

They’re the ones that come from the deranged and borderline mentally ill minds of those that write for the site. I want more of that.

"Dear God no" is definitely an appropriate response.
