Might I make a really old-fashioned suggestion?  Conan.  There's a long set of short stories out there, and I've often thought that it was better suited to a series (a la Hercules—The Legendary Journeys) filmed in New Zealand or Canada.

Agreed. There's probably a Hollywood meme on it that goes: "put a frill on that sucker, and it'll look all prehistoric and stuff!'  Remember the spitting dinosaur in Jurassic Park?
