When I was in college, these games would come on after rugby matches. When they showed the refs, seemingly every time they scored, our South African guy we had would yell out “HOW BIG’S YOUR DICK?” Cue the referee’s signal.

Aussie Rules isn’t based on American Football, in fact the first game of Aussie Rules was played 11 years before the first recorded game of American Football. Both evolved from early forms of rugby anyway. Why is Americans think they originated everything?
No, it doesn’t. Pointing out “here’s a cool play from a minor league baseball game” is a vastly different way of writing than, “Kamara must be a monumental shithead if he is that good (in MLS)...”
Your best scorer is not always your best penalty taker.
Lockette wasn’t blindsided no matter how you stretch the wording. He was off balance from the previous block (which is why he was in a bad position for the hit), but was hit head on.
Knox only made $800k before his injury. He ended up with $2 million because the Bears left him on the team for a year after his injury.
It looks legal to me. My guess is the NFL “encourages” throwing flags when a guy gets knocked out so they can point to a violation of the rules as the reason why someone almost died.
Maybe, but Ligue 1 is trash. Outside of PSG, I will watch MLS anyday.
<Mentally accepts that he's commenting on a Haisley article, forgives himself for being here again>
To blame the PK row for the trade is to assume that it was the one and only instance of bad juju. A cursory dive into the situation shows that this was the canary in the coal mine, and that there were deep, ongoing…
It wasn’t a blindside block though he was flagged for one. If it was, the league would have fined him.
There is no making football safe. This was a completely legal block and it nearly killed a guy. As much as I loved playing, things like this will cause me to seriously consider prohibiting my children from playing should I ever have any.
How can you take a blindside hit directly in the face?
Do all soccer/football articles in other countries constantly discuss the relative merits of their league?
Yeah, Lackey’s a piece of shit. Doesn’t matter what team he plays for.
He violated one of the unwritten rules by hitting a home run while a member of the San Diego Padres.
I think you mean “little-chance-at-Europe-except-for-the-Europa-final” defense. But otherwise you nailed it.
Most dinguses (what the hell is the plural of dingus?) can’t park when they’re IN their car. Turning it into a 1:1 scale RC car is putting way too much faith in people.
Alternate theory: He was showing off his “summon feature” and did not look at what he was doing, crashed it himself, and is now trying to find some way to blame anyone but himself. The phrase “Hey, bro watch what I can do with my car” may or may not have been involved.
Kid: Holy shit, that ball boy might have just saved my life!
