We desperately need a “where are they now” of ex-Jalop writers.

So, there’s an obvious answer here, which contains spoilers (for a 30 year old movie, admittedly)

The lack of tracking stuff is easy: in 1990, people weren’t even thinking about ubiquitous surveillance yet. GPS existed, but it was exotic. Cell phones barely existed. There was CCTV in some stores, police were starting to figure out that they could use credit card transaction histories to piece together recent

Lufthansa has figured out a way to stuff cargo into passenger compartments and if it’s safe enough for ze Germans, it’s more than safe enough for the rest of us.

Any car that you could buy, enjoy, and sell for what you paid or more is NP. Assuming the car passes a PPI, at this end of the depreciation curve you can’t go wrong.

It’s obvious why it’s a dud. It’s boring for a flagship.

For only $3,000 you can out-weird your coworker’s cybertruck.

You forgot another class action lawsuit on that engine. Former MK6 GTI owner here (same engine) and there’s a separate lawsuit regarding the water pump.

Or just add conditions barring those companies from using bailout money in ways you listed in numbers 1&2 to prevent fucking over the employees you listed in #3?

Who the fuck is panic buying cars???

“For your contribution, here is a check for $10,000....but for some reason our accounting department issued checks for $15,000. Just deposit the check, mail us $4,000 cash and keep and extra $1,000 for your troubles.”

It really is a Ferrari experience at a quarter the price.

About to ship our VW Bus to a shop in next week or two. virus or not rust repair needs to happen.

Meanwhile we’re still paying above $3/gal in California because ???.

Neutral:

If I was a Lyft/Uber driver I would switch to Doordash/Grubhub right away. There will be way more demand for take-out food and way less demand for taxis (a lot of taxi rides are to the airport, or to restaurants and bars- and all these destinations will be hard hit by the coronavirus)

A manual seems very fitting in an interior that looks like it’s from 2008.

Am I the only one that likes the little guy? A bit of retro, but still seems new. Yes it has shades of land rover, but is that so bad? If it’s decently powered and nice to drive I’d consider one for my wife’s next vehicle.

So basically this entire “review” was just an excuse to complain about SUVs. Got it.
