Your argument would have merit if you were comparing apples to apples.  The men and women play vastly different opposition.  For example, the Mexican men’s team is not the same or comparable as the Mexican women’s team that the USWNT beat easily every time.   

Or, you know, get to play the same orange cones the women play.

True, but payrolls of the women’s teams won’t approach the men unless people spend serious money on tickets, merchandise, or watch in large numbers on tv.  No sexism, just pure economics.  Owners will not spend money unless money comes in.

It is kinda dumb to compare scoring records for men and women.  Abby didn’t score goals against Premier League keepers.  She is a great goal poacher (good term to describe players who are always in the right place for goals). However, comparing her and Ronaldo is not a fair comparison, for both.

ESPN is not paying the league for rights, but providing production costs in return for making money (if any) on advertising. The “Remainder of the Season” tv deal is to gauge whether the world cup bump in terms of viewers will be a permanent or reasonable enough level for a long-term deal to be worth it.

FIFA grants US Soccer as the governing body of soccer in the United States, not the US government. FIFA does not want government intervention or meddling with its federations, because it wants total control of each countries federations.

There are lots of people like that in Washington and New York: Chelsea Clinton, the Gore kids, children and spouses of members of Congress who get cushy lobbying and think thank jobs, etc.

Of course, most of the viewers are going to watch the USWNT because they are doing well. Prior to 2015, when the women were not very good, people did not watch. When the men get better, more people will watch them as well.

What are you using as viewership, regular friendlies the men play in and the Women’s World Cup? When the USWNT play in friendlies, they get a little less in viewership than the men, but when they play in the Olympics, and the women’s World Cup, of course, they generate more viewers.
