I also love the “technicalities” being whether or not Queen Latifah and Monique were plus sized in the movie. Like girl what??? There has never been a time since Queen Latifah became Queen Latifah that she hasn’t been plus sized. She’s gained and lost weight over the years but she’s always been plus sized.

Racism is alive and well in Australia. White Australians have a carefully crafted international image as cheeky lovable larrikins, but institutional and overt racism towards Indigenous Australians and migrants is the norm.

That’s actually what I loved about Queen Latifah’s movie. Her character just happened to be plus size because that’s how Queen is but the movie wasn’t making any jokes about it. She was simply beautifully and unapologetically dressed for her body type and the story  moved along. That’s how it should always be.

If we could also get Queen Latifah in a rom-com with a lady love, that would be fabulous!
