Here Again

The framing device was something that I saw as existing in the same meta-universe as the book’s book editor framing device. Grandpa is just performing his own little editorial condensing for the sake of his grandson, but he’s looking at the same text that the book editor is looking at. Which is a great little

I’m not sure Billie Lourd has much range, but she is so damn good at playing the same character over and over.

Has any director had a hot streak like Reiner had in the 80’s/90’s? Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, A Few Good Men, and An American President. In 11 years. I don’t even think Spielberg ever pulled off a run like that without a flub like 1941 or Always in there somewhere.

This is especially true for a fantasy film like this since it’s not like the original looks or feels particularly dated, which is at least a justification for remaking some other properties, even if it’s a mostly shitty one.

The details toward the end of the season do sort of warrant a follow up because [SPOILERS] Alma learning that it was her mother who broke into the lab that fateful Halloween night during one of her fever trips when she was never there or told prior, not to mention know all about that archives security guard’s whole

Jeff Goldblum / Aubrey Plaza

I used to think that it was just too deep to understand. That is until I turned 12 and then realized, this is stupid.

“Honey, I promise you I didn’t mean to accidentally run over your dog when I was backing out of the driveway this morning. And I’d like nothing more than to express my sincerest regrets for that mistake, but I love you so much, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to ruin that by saying ‘sorry.’”

It is sooo wrong yet inspired a decade’s worth of insipid new agey platitudes about love that probably ended up ruining more relationships and marriages than the spouse-swapping fad.

Yeah, that’s not love. That’s what an abuser says.

And not just a little bit wrong; 180 degrees wrong. Love means not being afraid to admit when you’re wrong because your partner will accept you anyway. You’d think even a boorish Yalie would know that.

I just watched the Running Man again for the first time in years. It may not be a faithful adaptation of the book, but damn if it isn’t goofy fun and Richard Dawson alone makes it worth your time. Also noteworthy to me: I noticed almost all of the studio audience were old people, making me wonder if it was some sort

The original offers one flavor of Gremlin. The sequel offers us a variety of Gremlins, some I didn’t even know I wanted. Salad Bar Gremlin, where have you been all my life?

Number of gremlins played by Tony Randall in the original: 0
Number of gremlins played by Tony Randall in the sequel: 1

If there ever is a Gremlins 3 they better steer clear of CGI and stick with puppet Gremlins. The current Dark Crystal prequel shows that puppets still have a place in modern day film making.

As much as i like looking at the loverly Ms. Greer i too would rather this was presented as an article.

Congratulations on landing Judy Greer for what I’m sure is a delightful and informative chat that I do not have the time to watch. How about a text transcript, please?

It’s hard to imagine, but The A.V. Club has never run a Random Roles with Judy Greer”

Especially a 22 minute video. Get real.

Love Judy Greer, still not watching this video. Articles, please.
