Here Again

The final film’s twist at the end was one of the more entertaining twists in recent memory. Also one I didn’t see coming at all. Good job, future writer of Arrival!

Don’t get me wrong - watching this film anywhere on the “as balls-shit-fuck” highness continuum is a fine way to watch, just putting in the word that square nerds like me can and do enjoy it too.

Just to provide a counter-balance to a common theme I see in many Mandy reviews/write ups - I was not “high as fuck” when I saw Mandy, but still loved it.

I assumed it would end with the angry police chief forgiving Catch Fire of his reckless ways (because he gets results, dammit!), and allow him back on the beat again with his by-the-book partner Halt.

Maybe the new movie could be a meta thing where Stoltz invents a time machine to try to stop from getting fired off the movie?

YES. She would be a great candidate for RR.

Especially after they rastified her by 10%.

Jon “Bermuda” Schwartz: Are you saying you don’t need us any more?

That’s what George Meyers looks like? I was expecting an older, bulkier guy for some reason, particularly with how the rest of the staff talks about him with such reverence (I think I was expecting to look like a real-life Roger Meyers just because of the last name, honestly).

Okay

Which illustrates the problem of looking at a specific individual writing credits - this is a writers’ room show. Individual credit matters less than who was on the writing staff (like Conan) and who was the showrunner corralling them.

Wow, I forgot about the prescription drug mom one. That was really good.

Yup, all except the scrambled serial killer name and the joke ones.

Watching this for the first time in years and see Katelyn Nacon from the recent seasons of the Walking Dead was in this.

Pfft, ET. Total ripoff of Pod People. That had a cute alien that wanted to befriend a kid and another alien that looked the same that wanted to kill a rock band simultaneously! Those two plots meshed really well and didn’t feel thrown together at all! And Idiot Control Now rocked hard!

It’s pretty much the only Apatow-produced movie that’s better in its Extended version. I think it’s because it’s less improv-based than his other movies so it doesn’t feel like additional aimless character rambling padding the runtime. The additional scenes/bits seem like they really fit the larger whole.

Walk Hard kinda ruined biopics for me...but in a good way.

Uh, No? I wasn’t expressing a “your opinion is wrong” sentiment. More just kinda funny we got 2 separate reviews and now another article from him about the movie.

For Our Consideration - AA Dowd really hates the new Halloween and he’s going to keep writing more articles about it until you finally listen, dammit.

Even putting aside the sap - it’s the dumbest, most nonsensical thing ever. So Sarah Conner who to the world at large was a mentally unstable terrorist involved in the blowing up of the Cyberdyne building that caused maiming and deaths of several cops along with civilian scientist Miles Dyson, is just hanging out no
