I’m gonna mask up in airports and public transport from here on out I think. As well as when I’m feeling pre-sick (glum, maybe sore throat, but “could be allergies” sort of stuff).

You forgot white and heterosexual.
I’m having a bit of a day, I bought a king size Almond Joy, since I don’t own a gun and Asian women had nothing to do with my mood.
This press conference says as much about the cops as it does about the shooter.
This sounds about white. If you didn’t know the race of the shooter before the press conference you definitely figured it out when the sheriff said the shooter just had a bad day.
The scariest part is that most moms continue to have tits for the entirety of their lives! How on earth do their sons survive?
yeet them into a black hole.
First, I seriously appreciate you taking all this time to write that out for me. That is SUPER helpful.
Cool. Can we knock off this narrative that this Pope is "cool" or "reformed?" He's very much not.
With the caveat that I understand that millions of people care about the Catholic Church and their teachings, on the other hand this missive is the equivalent of your crazy aunt who you avoid at family reunions posting something stupid on Facebook. Like, I already know you’re completely out of touch, so why would I…
You know what, francis? I’m gonna be even fucking gayer.
Especially Black women.
I believe May 1st is the date when all adults are supposed to be *eligible* for the vaccine. I believe the goal is still for there to be enough available doses for all adults by the end of May.
Sympathy is not a zero sum game. You can feel bad for an innocent kid’s childhood getting fucked up by weirdos with cameras, and also feel bad about starving families, racism, broken education systems, etc.
You can just shorten that to “I have no human sympathy”. The kid gets kicked off her grade 4 soccer team because of papparazzi, that’s simply wrong. She’ll never get to do that again. Why accept that situation ? Just because you’re too lazy to care.
This is wonderfully written and really highlights William’s lazy thinking on this. It’s his own SIL calling out this shit, and that’s the best he can say? As if that settles it?
Completely agree with this. We discourage people from growing when we dredge up tweets from a point in their lives where their brains are not fully developed yet. I was a pretty shitty person in high school too, I was just fortunate to have lived that part of my life in the years before Twitter existed.
Especially when someone who is black says you are being racist! You don’t get to say “Nope, I’m not racist at all”
Saying “I’m not racist” is just about the worst thing you can say* when someone accuses you of racism. It basically just confirms that you’re racist—that you don’t care how your words and actions affect others, that you don’t spend time thinking about unconscious (or conscious) biases, that haven’t educated yourself…
Just to bring these women’s voices into the room, I’d like to recommend the novel Comfort Woman by Nora Okja Keller. She writes about Korean women enslaved by the Japanese army as well as the intergenerational trauma that ensues.
