I don’t live in GA, but I have a friend-of-friend who does who is just the WORST; he voted for Trump, continues to support him, called Dr. Blasey-Ford a liar, actively supports Brian Kemp. To keep my sanity, I started donating to Stacey Abrams’ campaign every time he posts something shitty and racist on Facebook.

This woman is my hero.

Every time I think “but maybe someday!” about getting my partner’s name tatted on me, I remember that my parents were married (seemingly happily) for 35 years and then broke up and hate each other now, and I’m like “NOPE!”

a TON of people who aren’t Christians celebrate Christmas in Christian-dominant countries. it’s way more of a cultural holiday than a religious holiday.

Rowling explicitly defines other characters’ races (Lee Thomas is described as being tall and black, Cho Chang is ... named Cho Chang). Hermione is described pretty vividly in the first book; why would her race not have been included if it was something other than white?

She’s white.

I was a serious dancer throughout college, but after college I had an injury that required major, complicated surgery. Recovery was slow and painful and I got VERY depressed. I’ve always been thin, but after surgery I lost over 20lbs from a combination of not exercising (no muscle mass) + being depressed/not eating. I

THIS. I was having a conversation with someone about the way fat people are treated in this country, about how entitled complete strangers feel to assume they know what’s going on with someone based on their weight, and finally I just said WHY DO YOU CARE?! Even IF that person is fat 100% because of poor life choices,

You ... you realize this is more or less exactly the same thing people say to discredit Ronan and Dylan Farrow, right? “Other kids say it didn’t happen.” If you believe people when they say they were the victims of abuse then you have to also believe them when doing so doesn’t fit nicely into your preferred narrative.

I started dating a boy Junior year of high school who was a Scientologist, but pretended he wasn’t. Turns out his family works for the “church” and they are IN. IT. Among lots of other stuff, we can’t have sex until he turns 18 because the church doesn’t allow it and he definitely told his parents the instant we

Literally the whole point of that example was that the pregnancy was NOT VIABLE.

THIS.

WAIT. the age of consent question is really secondary here. he says she assaulted him. the hedging on this site of “oh, well, in some states the age of consent is 17" is absolute bullshit. he says she raped him. even if the age of consent WAS 17 in CA, raping someone is still illegal.

i posted this above, but THIS. especially as a white girl (which bella thorne is) if you’re subtle and not obvious and stupid about it, no one will notice or care!!

in my experience, 9 times out of 10 you only get caught for shit like that if you’re very obvious about it. just smoke your weed on the DL and no one will care; it’s a giant hassel for them to notice and do something about it so unless you MAKE them notice, they won’t. especially cuz she’s a white girl.

Always.

I agree. It’s so fucking hard in the moment when a dude says something dumb as hell to be like *breath* “Ok, here’s another perspective you may not have considered.” But it is the only way most of the time. It’s way easier (and feels better) to blow up and call them names, but that’s not how learning happens. Nobody

That’s exactly what I thought when I read it, too. Why else would someone hasten to make that distinction? Because he or someone he knows has done some of those things and he wants to get ahead of the game by saying “well it’s not all the same.”

I got laid off 3 weeks ago (through no fault of my own) and I think I’m getting really close to getting a new job. I’ve got a third interview on Tuesday and I feel like if we can agree on a salary I’ll be in.

I can’t believe that’s not already the case ... I mean I can, but it’s crazy.
