You are right that HBO has a legal right. But the legal right they have is to seek an injunction against Frikidoctor in state court. That is not what they did. They abused the DMCA and filed a claim with Youtube for immediate takedown which was an abuse of that law and system since it doesn’t apply.

HBO already lost. Frikidoctor won his appeal with Youtube. I assume that they won’t be quick on the gun with the next video again.

That’s actually 100% false. When you clicked his videos while they were pulled, a notice appeared from Youtube that Youtube pulled the video due to a copyright claim from Home Box Office.

If you wait until it’s out/released, then it’s not a spoiler is it? People like spoilers, deal with it. It’s part of being diverse human beings. No one is forcing you to go watch his videos if you don’t want to.

Basically HBO are idiots for doing this. Only about 25,000 people watched the first two videos. Then HBO goes and gets the videos banned which confirms that Frikidoctor is a credible source of spoilers and the few people who were watching them got upset. HBO propelled this guy into star Youtube status.

Yes, copyrights are a government created restriction on your individual freedom of speech. They are enforceable through civil actions.

No he has not stolen the script. He hasn’t even seen the script. He knows someone who has seen the episode who tells him what happens in the show and then he talks about it. It’s no different than a reviewer reading a book and describing the plot in their review.

If what Frikidoctor is doing is copyright infringement, then every book review on Goodreads or movie review on any site that discusses the plot points is also copyright infringement.

I’ve watched each of his videos for the first three episodes before they were pulled (beginning this week). If you even speak intermediate Spanish, they are cool to watch since his accent is so clean and easy to understand. His source is pristine. Everything he spoiled has happened to a tee.

It has everything to do with freedom of speech. Copyrights are just one exception to the basic tenet of free speech. But the copyrights have to be valid to be enforced which they aren’t in this case.

Except it’s his own work. He is performing and giving his reactions and analysis to plot points. He’s not performing the script nor quoting from it. In fact, he hasn’t even seen the episode or the script. He has just been told what happens in the episode and he conveys those plot points along with his analysis.

He’s not though. He’s just talking about what happens. There are no quotes or pulls.

Frikidoctor is so awesome. This was a real dick move on the part of HBO and Youtube. His video in no way infringed copyright but once someone claims that to Youtube, they just pull it and you have no recourse.

Why are we assuming that he is the bad guy here? From everything I’ve read, everyone on the show absolutely adores him and Stana has a bit of a reputation for being not so nice, shall we say.

This girl Freelee has been a nut job for years. I was dabbling with going vegan at least 5 years ago and came across her stuff on the web (her videos and site) and she weirded me out then (as a passive viewer). Everything about her had an aggressive air. I’m not surprised if she is beefing with the world.

This is great because the justice department is addressing the *second* part of HB2 which, in my opinion, is particularly egregious. The bathroom part of the bill is getting all the press, but the rest of the bill is a hot mess too.
